This appeared this march in an area where I only have bluish Crocus. What does also always come up there in the summer is those Wild Violas, or Johnny jumpups? I think they are called, the coloring inside these looks like the Violas. It is totally different shaped than any crocus I have had. And I planted nothing new there. IT looks like a freak, but gorgeous. What do you guys think?
dutch iris? I'm guessing Iris reticulata: they grow from tiny bulbs which look like an elongated crocus corm

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
OK BUT How did it get there, and the leaves are just the same as the Crocus, I have never planted anything there the same crocus have come up every year for the past nine years, and its in the exact same spot where the Crocus always come up. Its really odd. REALLY odd! LOL
Species iris are often small like that. And they set seeds. And the birds share the seeds. The leaves were there, hiding in amongst your crocus leaves.
