I am so excited. I just planted all of my columbines on the shady side of my top tree in the tree flower bed. I took them from the edging to about 5 feet out so it will be a nice big bed. I hope they grow. I even planted Wild Willy's columbine mix. I can't wait for spring although I may not get any flowers off of them the first year. How does that go for columbine? Do they flower the first year?

It depends on the cultivar as to whether it will bloom the first year. Since you are planting them now, you should get blooms next year on most of them(assuming you are talking about seedlings and not seeds.)

Nope these are seeds. Every once in a while I try direct sowing. I don't have a great deal of luck with it but I keep trying. This will be my second attempt at direct sowing columbine. Cross your fingers for me.
