WE HAVE A COMMON lilac BUSH AND IT IS LEAFING OUT AND STARTING TO BLOOM. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THAT IS NORMAL? WE LIVE IN THE HIGH DESERT OF AZ SO WE HAVE HOT SUMMERS AND FREEZING ( DOWN TO -10 )WINTERS. ANY INFO WOULD BE NICE,

Hi, Pickles. I also live in desert south west in so. Cal. Sometimes our climate confuses some non-native plants. It will not harm your lilac to bloom and leaf out now. And you will probably still get bloom again next spring. It needs a cold season to bloom properly but not necessarily a long cold season. So I would say enjoy your special out-of-season lilac.
