I'm deciding not to go to college.I just can't afford it and even with scholarships,I wouldn't have enough money since it's impossible to get a loan these days due to the crummy economy.Anyways,My dream job only requires a high school diploma and it really pays well.My dream job is to be a railroad engineer.Entry level engineers earn about $45,000 per year.

if you can get on with the rail road that would be excellent! they are union, at least down here, great benefits...not just for you but for your fam too (when you get one) the whole work force and economy is changing, emed. don't fret if you decide college is not for you. I believe, in the next 5-10 years we will see alot of high paying jobs developing out of trade schools ect.

enrique, they have a short railroad engineering course at one of the community colleges here. if you take the course, you are almost guaranteed a job with the railway.

my teacher's have been telling me since the start of high school that skilled trades will pay more because people are so obsessed with getting office jobs and staying clean, that no one really wants to be a plumber or carpenter or other skilled trade. Follow your heart and do whatever you think is right for you!

I believe that! It is majorly expensive to hire plumbers and the like! I am always scared to death that we are going to have to call in a plumber or electrician or a heating guy because of the cost per hour!

A railroad engineer is a fine career. my grampa was one. i must point out, however, You may not "text" on the job!!!! zoink (that was such a tragedy)
i just freak out when i see these people "texting" as they drive down the street. give them wiiide berth. no room to steer around on the rails tho.
