That's pretty late in the year, but if they do, the babies should be fine. I suspect that they are just scouting out potential refuges from the bad weather this Winter. They will pack into the nest box tightly to warm the inside with their body heat. I once found a dead FLATTENED Chickadee in one of my boxes, where dozens of Chickadees packed in there, during an ice storm.
