Hello,

My husband and I are building a house in Orange County, NY. We are set to have landscaping the week of October 13th. I see from the weather reports that there will be a frost tonight, but not again for at least 10 days. Should we invest the money in landscaping for the house now or wait until the spring? I would love some advice as we are relocating from Southern California and have much to learn about gardening on the east coast. Thank you in advance for your advice!

wavy Hi [Linked Image]

Glad to have you here....... grin

I'm From Tx so my hardiness zone is different than yours If you're putting in mature plants that are hardy to your zone I would imagine it would be okay since the ground is still relatively warm there may still be time for them to get established. why

We have some NY'kers here on the forum I'm sure they could give you better advice than me for your area! and Congrats on your new home! clap

Some plants are best planted in the fall but some should wait until the spring. Many bulbs should be planted now plus most trees that you are going to have in your landscaping. Also if you are going to sow grass seeds now is the time.

I'm a seed and bulb type of gardener so that's where I've put in the most studying. For live plants I wouldn't have a clue sorry.

i'm going to have to apologize. The weeping bottle brush are gone. I've looked through both my boxes and they aren't there. I'm so sorry. I didn't remember trading them but I must have.
