Well actually my Aunt has this mystery plant. She planted some impatience in a pot and this plant came up with them. Not sure it was in the soil she used or what. My 83 yr old aunt would love to find out what it is. Any ideas?

It looks like a datura,,,, by the way the bloom bud looked like and the seed pod that gets green and prickly let the seed pod dry up and brown and it will burst open there are plenty of seeds there,, also called jimsonweed weed it can be toxic so be careful but blooms beautifully

what color was the bloom?

I'm not sure what color the bloom was, I think it bloomed at night. My aunt doesn't think it bloomed at all, I tried convincing her that it did but she didn't see it while it was in bloom, which leads me to believe it is a night bloomer, kinda like a moon flower. Looking at it closed it appeared to be a purplish color. I thought it might be toxic because of it's tubular shape. Thank you for your imput on this, I will let my aunt know.

It was probably the Purple Moon flower which is a datura they only last for a day or so to just a few hours, the prickly pod is the result of a bloom being there, I have that plant in both white and purple.

Looks like Datura to me too and yes they are night bloomers as well as the whole plant is poisenious. Self seed freely. Very hardy and low water use.
