Yep I looked it up and that is what it is!!!!!!!!!! thanks Rugby and Alan!!!!!! My problem is that I didn't have these in Full sun,, I'll leave then where they are (maybe we still have 3 months of good weather left) and tansplant in the spring to a full sun area,,,,,, danggggggg I put them in shade because I didn't know what it was,, and didn't want it to burn up, I found out this plant specie originated in Africa and is a prime flower for my zone for full sun Ohhhhhhhh welllllll now there is 7 of them and maybe even more babies under the soil Next year I'll get them to bloom!!!!!!
Here is what it looks like in bloom!!!!!! http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=5HE&pwst=1&q=Agapanthus%20africanus&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
Belinda I was thinking amaryllis too ...... but,,,,,, these leaves stay green all year! That's why I was puzzled!

Agapanthus are an amazing plant that go from full shade to full sun exposure. I would not move them. They are easy to transplant from sections of the bulb mass. The sun exposure will only shift their bloom time to earlier or later due to amount of sun.
I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!

Why do you suppose they haven't bloomed at all?? I don't know how old the original one was that was sent 3 years ago or so,, maybe I could move a couple of them and see if they bloom next year?

they are green all year in CA. If they are not evergreen for you, they may not get enough of a growth going to flower. Try fertilizer with high phosphorus.
