Before I begin this,, My hope is that you all will post your cannas' here through out this spring and Summer. There is such a wide variety, from Dwarf to Very Tall, Variegated leaves, to several solid colors, and blooms that vary in shape and size from orchid looking to hummingbird attractors ,to full large blooms. It will be interesting to see the variety we all have, and ID them , and find the right group setting for them. IF you don't have a camera just describe the height, leaf color and bloom color/type and we all can help ID it. I have 2-3 more cannas I had been given last fall, without an ID of any kind,, when they bloom I will post those here.
********* Usually in the morning before I go to work, I take my cups, ( yep I said cups) of coffee outside to the back patio, and watch the dog play, water plants, whatever,,,,. This morning I was watering plants (3 days of 90+ degree weather already), and I hadn't really noticed how tall this particular group of cannas had gotten, pretty much taken for granted they would always be there, and relatively care free. What had caught my eye was the clouds passing in front of the moon so quickly,,,,,, it was then,,,,, I noticed,,, a canna was touching the Moon!!
pic taken sometime around 5 am or a little after,,
![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/yard%20and%20flowers/0805210018.jpg) Fence is 6ft, middle canna is approx 30 inches above the fence,, this canna belongs in the Tall Group variety at approx' 8 & 1/2 feet.
This pic' taken well after 6 am ( and I'm running late to work again,, all for the love of blooms )
The ID on these cannas are,,,, Singapore Girl......... Let's see your Cannas!!

Great pictures Diane!!!
I cannot believe your cannas are blooming! Mine are only up about 5 inches and I potted them up indoors in March to give them a head start! What a difference a few latitudes make, huh?!?
The second one looks a bit orange like the one that Jimmy gave me - is it the same one?

the sun finally poked out so I was able to run out and get some pics. now I hear thunder. mine are all about 4-5 feet tall, except the ones I have planted in the front, they get less sun so there about 2-3 feet. ![[Linked Image]](http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll233/cricket_087/cannacu.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll233/cricket_087/cannablms.jpg) I have a red variety too. I only have one bloom now and it looks very thin. the blooms on it gets as big as the yellow ones above. ![[Linked Image]](http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll233/cricket_087/cannaredblm.jpg)

glorioski!!! My cannas are barely a foot tall. Mine must be midget ones they don't get nearly that tall. I'd say Texas is the place to grow cannas.
PS Diane, what time do you start work? I'm still in bed at 6.

Thanks Cricket,, You're welcome to come over for Coffee anytime! I'm looking up your beautiful orange on yellow blooms those are sweeeeet!,, And the Red one I believe is in the Hummingbird category blooms, how tall is the red one??? I may have found your orange and yellow,, Medium height,, possible from the Zodiac series,, see if this picture is yours,, Tauras-Zodiac series,, Olive green foliage meduim height ![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/tauruscanna.jpg) * Sheri I have to be at work by 6:30,.,. I usually get up around 4:30 and spend time in the quiet dark of the back yard,, * Lynne the bloom (large picture) is the same as the moon picture,, it didn't capture the color really well,, the pinker bloom is more of a 'Soft fushia color, and the other bloom on the same bloom stock is more of a darker soft peach color,, I really like that it blooms two different color on the the same bloom stock! * Jimmy post your picture if they are in bloom

angelblosom, my yellow and orange ones CAN get 6-7 feet...under the right conditions. mine seem a little more spotted with color on the inside than your photo. I don't know anything about the variety. I never thought to look it up. I do really like yours that are kinda salmon colored! the red one of mine does get a much bigger bloom than shown above, just don't have a pic right now. it also makes nice hardy seed pods as well as rizomes (or whatever that word is) under ground. I don't think they get as tall. maybe 5-6 feet.

My Cannas haven't bloomed yet. I have about 100 in my yard. Small tubular red ones that the hummers LOVE. Pictures are coming later when I get blosoms.

Years from now when I start on my pond project the Tropicana Canna's are on my list to get. But it's going to be quite sometime until I get around to tha project. But it's on the planning board.

LOL!!!!! Btw, I can't seem to figure out you guys get the smilies in your posts. Is it with a smiley toolbar thingy? Great pics!! The shot with the moon is positively poetic!! I have 3 'flavors' of cannas in my yard: red, red/orange, and yellow. My red ones are just busting out with the yellow not far behind. The red/orange were cut back, dug up and relocated so they're a little behind. Boy, those things can take over and they're a pain the rear to completely get shuck of if one wants/needs to do that.

if you hit 'reply' or 'quote' (maybe some of the other choices, I only reply or quote so I don't know) anyway, you'll see the smily button on the top of the box you are typing in.

very pretty. our summer has been so dry NO one could stand looking at my cannas right now. they are sad sad, small, dried out. but no fear they always come back in this zone. one day I'm gonna replace them with something else, but for now they are nice and easy fill in plants.
