I love that pond--it never gets high though does it? It looks really close to the house--I'd have all kinds of fish in there. I'd keep buying goldfish to put in it.
Nice house!
I am not that neat either. I'm not messy, but I'm not super neat. I like my plants to be super filled in and wild looking, like an English garden.
Ginger has a beautiful home! I can tell that she is a tidy person. I like to think that I am but in reality I am not that tidy. I am not messy but not that tidy. Many days I wish I was! Thanks for sharing the pictures!
So far the pond hasn't gotten high. She lives down hill so it would have to really rain to bring it into her yard. She live in GA and usually it's too dry rather than too wet.
I'm neat but my sock drawer isn't in place. And her bathroom drawers are neat. Nothing is just thrown into a drawer like my toothpaste and dental floss. Hers is always side by side.
Beautiful home and neato..... I have a neighbor like that......O does she drive one to the funny far. White carpets thru out the house.......Made the 30 year old son move cause his clothes brought in dust from the sawmill.
Eat in the basement........Upstairs kitchen is for show..
I hear ya dodge. I get uncomfortable in peoples houses that are shiney enough to operate in. I like clean, but I also like the 'it looks like someone actually lives here' look too.

Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it. ~Russel Baker
my mother is such a neat freak that she can't stand to have people, including us all at one time, over. She worries about it for days and just can't tolerate it. We all haven't eaten together at her house for years.
Hi dodge. I'm not sure when my mother got this way. I know she's never really enjoyed cooking so way back we were going out to eat Thanksgiving dinner. Then when we started getting married off we each started having family functions at our house instead of hers.

I have 3 sisters and between us we have 10 children. We have husbands and some of our children have husbands and children. All total there is 31 of us. But she didn't have us over when there were just us with our husbands. She can't stand it. It makes her nuts.
Weird women there. Some get goofy as they age . However the folks around me have mostly new homes, the kids are made to play outside in any weather to keep the house clean as a whistle.
I am sorry for you, Sheri, but at least you know where she stands. My mom gets stressed if we are coming over for a meal, wants us there as early as possible so we can eat so she can then go into the living room (by herself) and take a nap.---It makes all of us crazy---We kids, and our kids like to enjoy our holiday, spread it out, and not eat so early.....
And Mom during this, she is all the while complaining how she "had' to have the holiday.---
BUT if you someone has the holiday so she will not have to, she gets offended that no one came to her house for the holiday.
I have 1 sister & 1 brother---(so 3 siblings) Total there is 28 of us?? give or take.
The good news??? We usually have a pot luck so all the hostess has to have is the meat, potatoes and gravy, & bread. we all bring the rest.
but, Ya gotta love her...........

I didn't realize until Ginger started working in her own yard that she thinks mine is out of control and overgrown. I like a cottage style yard and as you can see she likes a well manicured yard. I like a lot of trees, she wants very few. Her plants will grow out and onto the sidewalk a little which I think is cute but she cuts them back. Different strokes.

my girls understand the concept of cottage gardens, so they are ok with mine being that way. but they want one more like ginger's
Ginger's husband, Chris, is the same way. They see the beauty in my yard and Ginger is constantly asking about flowers (lots of the questions I post here) but her aesthetic is different from mine. To me her yard doesn't look complete and to her mine looks messy. She'll probably never have anything reseed or spread because there isn't one leaf or limb out of place. I tried to get her have her landscape man make something other than a straight line for a flower bed but nope.
I mow lawn but put my flowers everywhere........Who cares.. My pleasure..

Oh Barb, you are so lucky to get to put your flowers where you wish. MY DH does the mowing and he does not wish to have any more trimming than he already has.--so n o more flowers for Carol.
But I will look at all of your flowers and enjoy them ok???

Oh ok....Hey I put a photo on tonite of my pink clematis ..Hot pink very close up of it .. Cover the entire photo in pink.. I voted for thorns blue bird head too.
Carol Jean said she can't plant more flowers. So sad.
Guys, I think I gave the wrong impression up there in my post--- when I said no more flowers, I meant no more "additional" flowers. I still have my flower beds up along the back of the house, and I have my "new and improved flower bed between the 2 trees in the back yard--so do not feel sorry for me. and then there is my large pots on the deck and the front porch, not to mention my small bed of wild violets and crocus along the side of the front porch. I have a lot of flowers, I just want more.
I said no moreflowers because if it were up to me I would have flower beds all over the yard like you guys were talking about.

It's an obsession isn't it Carol. Sometimes I think I'd be better off if my husband would say no more flowers. It's like I can't stop planting then I have to water and weed and deadhead and fertilize and on and on. I'm like a maniac. Ginger, my daughter, told me one time "mom surely you're not going to try and plant all 7 acres." I laughed at the time but I can't seem to stop.
Ginger may well have a point. If we still lived out on the farm,(5 acres) I am sure I would still be "adding" to my flower list.
And then I think fondly of all the beds along the 3 sides of the house out there. (none on the north side.) there was periwinkle on the south side, but you guys would of given me the courage to dig it all out and plant flowers.----yea..
Sheri, I bet your yard is beautiful. ---Perhaps one day Ginger will change her mind. When I was a sweet young thing, I didn't care much for flowers either.--I had no time.
I really began planting what little I did, because my little "Valarie" loved flowers. Other than transplanting the wild violets to the beds along the back of the house, my first bed was all tulips and daffodils.--All for Valarie.
