very difficult to tell, but i'd say either a boston or a kimberly queen fern (i think that is right). they are related to the boston fern, but aren't quite so persnickity. they are more common now as they are hard to tell apart.

I vote for NOT a boston fern. this one looks a bit too delicate, maybe? but certainly very closly related to the boston fern.
That is one happy healthy looking plant! whatever it is you are taking very good care of it.

LOL don't I wish...haven't had much luck with the Christmas fern, but I've got
a couple of others which are encouraging. Seem to take their own sweet time to get up and running, though. Ditto on the ice and snow.

Boston fern's the best guess so far, I believe; I got this pic off Google. Looks very close to it:

This year I'm into setting ferns in the garden, and this one has a spot waiting
for it under a flowering crab. It's a wood fern,Dryopteris Carthusiana:

I don't know about it being Boston. it's too compact looking in that picture.

They react to the soil and water supply. some are leggy and loose. When conditions are right they fill out and become compact and full, becoming a beautiful fern.

I liked the way she made use of that paper/cardboard food container. Good idea for seedlings.

This Christmas fern,Polystichum acrostichoides,
surprised me in coming back to life, and
here I had given up on it when it just sat there in a dormant
state after I set it out year before last. I'm so pleased it's
come back to life:

Click photo to enlarge, and you can see that last year's growth, lying flat on the ground, is still green.
