bought a little place in the mountains somewhere toward Virginia, Fancy Gap. I'm not exactly sure where it is and the other day is only the 2nd time they've been there since they bought it. A few minutes ago we got a call from the hospital there and from what I can ascertain sometime yesterday Little Johnny (even though he's a grown man) and his girlfriend were riding their four wheeler and were either hit by a deer or hit a tree. They must be hurt pretty bad because they didn't call for help or either their phones didn't work where they were, until this morning. A forest ranger somehow got them to the hospital. I think they were outside all night - I don't know if they were dazed or hurt that badly but neither of them are able to talk on the phone. This is the sketchy information that my Johnny got from the person at the hospital.
So we are on our way to fancy gap hoping to get there before they are airlifted to a larger place that Johnny thinks is called Carillion or something that sounds like that.
Pray for us because we don't have good directions, got them from the hospital person. We are members of AAA and I've called a friend to get us better directions and call us but we are heading out without them.
I know they don't have internet access at their mountain house but I'll be back as soon as I can.
Good luck on your journey and a safe one as well, Sheri; will be praying for their recovery and your safe trip.

I too hope you have a safe and speedy trip to the hospitaL. I pray all is well with "Little Johnny" and his Girl Friend, and that you arrive at said hospital before they are air-lifted out. God Speed--and I will be praying.

4 wheelers can be so dangerous. I was just remembering the time that I went with Mark at night, with a group of other 4-wheeling people. We hit a big tree branch or something and I flew off the thing, lucky not too be too hurt. It was very scary though.
I sure hope they are okay, been praying and I'm waiting for an update.
We ride them and love it . But the differenc, we ride alone and dont act stupid.
On foreign territory, you have no idea whats coming the other way.. I never did understand trails....... We only ride the country side. Of course, ours.
We were young and stupid at the time Barb. Mark is quite an expert 4 wheeler though, he's grown up with them. There just happened to be a big branch down on the trail and it was dark. There are a zillion trails out where he grew up, lots of fun in the daytime.
those things can be pretty bad. a customer of ours' son went out to do his regular chore before dinner; go close the gates to the upper pasture after the cows came down to the milkyard for the night. this wasn't some wild crazy kid either, he'd been doing this task since he was 8 on his own four-wheeler. when he didn't return in his normal 10 minutes, his dad went up to see what was up and found him overturned in the bar ditch not a scratch on him, his neck broken, dead at 11. talk about sad.... :( hope johnny and his girlfriend are ok.
That is very sad. We rode 3 wheel ATC's all over around here until they decided to make it illegal on the national forest land. Jonni has ridden an ATC all over the ranch since she could reach the pedals. We even had a car seat attached to the back so Ted could ride. But we have a 5 mph speed limit until you get off-ranch. The neighbors built a track with fun hills and dips around their place to ride for the kids. No night riding for us though.

Mother asked me to write you a note. She's on the phone now and I've come to feed her dog. I am not a member of any internet clubs so I hope I'm doing this right. Mother says you can't read this while I am typing and I hope that is correct because I can't type like she can. She asked me to do this last night but I couldn't get her on the phone and couldn't figure it out and the children didn't want to play on Webkinz so I didn't turn on the computer.
Possibly Johnny hit a deer and then a tree. He doesn't remember. His hand is broken and some fingers on the other hand. His girlfriend has been moved to a hospital in Roanoke, had surgery on her leg and pelvis. Mother is mad because they have mentioned discharging her tomorrow and she says the ride to Charlotte will be very painful.
Alyssa was unconscious for a while and Johnny was under the four wheeler so they were outside most of the night and both are on antibiotics because of wound infections. Johnny for sure will be discharged tomorrow. His only problem is his broken hands.
Mother has stayed with my aunt who lives in Virginia and may get on the computer tonight.
Thanks so much for giving us an update, we were all concerned.
I am sorry they have had to go thru all of this and I am especially sorry that they are trying to discharge them so soon. I know it happens a lot, but I still do not like it. But it sounds like they will recover, even if it will take awhile to accomplish.
Tell your mom I am praying for Little Johnny and Alyssa---and of course also for your mom and dad, and the whole family as this is hard on the rest of you as well.

Hello everyone. We're at my sisters and coming home sometime today. Alyssa is still in the hospital and may come home tomorrow. No one from her family in Laurinburg has shown up. Little Johnny has said before that they don't care about her and I guess that's right. It has been strained at best because Little Johnny and his wife are separated and his wife doesn't want to be around his girlfriend but his children, Tori (I've posted her picture with Darbi before), and Alexis have wanted to come visit him here. Cissy, Big Johnny's ex wife, who baby sits ToDeTa for us has been here too so we've had ToDeTa with us and she's been a nightmare. We stayed at a pet friendly hotel the first night but she barked so much while we were gone that the manager told us we had to either shut her up or leave (which we were planning on anyway). I was worried that she'd bite my sister but she hasn't. She is a psycho dog and it's because of her owner, psycho Johnny. She is too attached to him and he is too attached to her.
Anyway. We don't know what hit them or what they hit but they were knocked off their 4 wheeler and Johnny was somehow under it and couldn't get to Alyssa. His only injury was a broken hand and fingers so I'm not sure how he escaped injury to his legs since they say he was trapped under the thing. Alyssa was thrown and may have hit a tree and is pretty broken up. Other than Johnny's bandages on his hands he looks fine. You'd never know he'd been in an accident. Alyssa's face and neck are cut and scraped, some of her hair is gone, her pelvis is broken and she has broken bones in one of her legs. Evidentially she was unconscious, which I think was a blessing since Johnny couldn't move because of the 4 wheeler. Someone taking an early morning walk saw a helmet and figured something was wrong and called a Ranger. I think that's so smart because I wouldn't have thought that just from a helmet.
sheri, so glad you are finally at a more friendly place. and thanks for the update. I am glad nothihg worse happened to your Little Johnny or his girlfriend, and I hope they both will heal well. I am also glad that at least you and your DH are there for Alyssa
Bless that person who was taking the early morning walk.--and I am also thankful it was not a colder time of year.
I hope things continue to go well for them both, and please take care.

More updates. It all sounds like it is going to turn out OK with some time. I am sorry Alyssa's family is not there for her. That is quite sad. We will all be happy to see you home again.

Alyssa came home today. I worked and Johnny and Little Johnny picked her up in one of the plumbing vans. They cleaned out the back and fluffed it up and said she did fine. She's a trooper. Still not a word from her family. So sad. I'm sure she'll have months of rehab. I'm not sure what another family would have done. She's short but she couldn't have laid in the back of the car or regular van unless 2 rows of seat could be taken out. She's got a brace on her back and around her pelvic are and a long cast on one leg. She can't sit or stand alone. She's in a lot of pain. She has Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC. I can't believe they had to discharge her.
