After acquiring RSD, in 2002; gardening became something that helps me to reconnect with the earth and relax. Certainly, many of the chores that are required of a garden are beyond my abilities but, I've adapeted and with the help of my family.

I joined this forum in hopes that I can connect with other gardners who enjoy talking about their gardens and learning from one another.

See you in the forums!

My name miss reads as Idblond; it's really Ldblond. My friends have joked with me about this for years. It's all in good fun and I just wanted to share with you. grin

Howdy neighbor, I am a long time gardener from the semi-desert SoCal. Welcome to the forums

And I am in the Cajon Pass above San Bernardino. We really are fairly near neighbors.

No fires nearby. They are all north, west and south of me. The wind is still west so we even have lovely air quality right now. I have evac-ed from fires in prior years though. It isn't fun.

I am glad the fires are not near you. Although, we have never had to evacuate; we did help my parents when they had to evacuate a few years ago from the Pioneer fire in Yucca Valley. Scary times.

We are getting plenty of coverage of your fires on our news over here. It's nearly our fire season, and yours is still going! Hope they get them under control soon.

Hope the drought doesn't get so bad in California and Australia that the fire season becomes year round.

I 2002 our house nearly burnt down during a very dry spell with hot, gale force westerly winds but since then the seasons have been fairly normal in our region, while in the southern half of Australia, where stevie g is, a large number of orchards of apples and pears are being plowed under because of lack of rain which is very sad for the growers- and very expensive for those aussies who like apples and pears.
