what do you guys do with your old crates? I have several that Johnny has brought home over the years. He finds them when he's working under peoples houses and they give them to him. My sister has given me a few she found in the basement of an old house she bought one time.

I've had toys in them, yarn in them, plants in them but I'm ready for a change.

What do you do with any you have?

What type of crate, Sheri? Do you mean old wooden crates like fruit and vegetables used to be packed in? I don't have any of those. In my house they would not look like decor. They would look like more trash.

yes, old wooden crates. I hate to throw them away because once in a while they do come in handy. One of them has a Piggy Pears label on it and another has Eherts (I think) beer 1866 on the side of it. I've had one on the back porch full of toys and one on the screened in porch with plants in pots in it but I've got several more in the attic, one with yarn in it.

I used to keep an old wooden crate in the kitchen for potatoes and garlic and such. it had a rustic look. it was pretty cool. then my decor changed.
what about using one for out on your porch for extra plant pots, bags of garden soil, ect. not sure how big of a crate your talking about???

If I had old wooden crates I would stay up all night and watch them---those are antiques.--And my friend, Record albums fit perfectly in them. Rod's friends had a few that they kept their albums in.

I know they sure have cordbaord all beat when it comes to storage--esp if your basement leaks.

I do not see them any more----

Cricket, I've got them in all sizes. They're actually pretty cool because some of them still have intact labels and a few like the beer ones have the words and year burned into the wood. I had toy cars in one for Colby to play with but he was always draging it around and I was concerned that it would scratch up the floors, so I put the cars in a big basket. I had one on the screened in porch that had magazines in it but I cleaned it out and threw the magazines away. I guess I can go that route again.

I know. I can put one in Johnny's closet and put bags in it. I'll bet they'll stand up nicely and then when I need to give a gift I won't have to hunt through every thing to find a bag.
