Well it's not really a holiday, and it's not really a hobby(I think of that stuff more as painting, knitting, etc)....so I thought I'd just stick it in here.

I know most of you wouldn't dream of going. BUT, for the ones that do...let's chat!

Have you been looking online at the circulars? Have it planned out where you're going yet?

My brother is going this year for the first time ever and I can't wait to see his face when he sees all the crazy people up so early. lol My sister is going with us too again this year.

I noticed that Walmart has $4 kids PJ's, and $4 kids jeans. thumbup Might have to grab some of them.

I really want to look at the 50+ DVD titles that are $2! grin

Not sure where else we are going yet. Have to look at all the papers with the family.

Who is going?

Me, mom.....Jess? Jenn? Anyone else going for sure?

It sounds like the shopping is a family outing for you, Loz. I was wondering when you were going to start this subject! I went out once on black Friday just to see what is was like early in the morning. I went out another time to get an advertised thing at Radio Shack. But it is not my thing for the most part.

It's usually just a bonding tradition thing for me and mom. But last year Allison went with us and I thought I'd not like having her with us. lol But it was nice. thumbup

If you can believe it there was a time when I thought BF shoppers were CRAZY.....I used to say, I'm not getting out of bed to shop...no way.

BUT, it's not really about the shopping--I mean it is a little, to me it's more about the tradition of it and the surge of excitement you feel. clap I don't like crowds, so I don't go for the crowds... lol But it is funny seeing everyone still half asleep and fighting over things.

I wish I could go---I do not like to shop by myself though----so unless I get invited to go while at dinner on Turkey day, I bet Carol stays home....

You should just make the girls go Carol. Tell them they have no choice. lol If we lived close I'd throw you in the car and smuggle you off with us.

Diane, you should go. Alone or not it's fun and you get GREAT deals. You feel a little weird your first time going. Like you're the only weird one in the world, then you see the multitudes of other crazy people and realize---you are not alone! lol

Jess, me too. Seeing them online isn't the same as having it in your hands to look at. I can't wait for that! grin

I am not sure that I'll be going this year. I'd like to go just to go, but I never go to the stores near us. I go to the ones 45 minutes away. I love the sales that Wal-mart has, but I'm scared to death to go there! A lady a few years ago got hit by a TV that was tossed off of a pallet and she is paralyzed!

Maybe I will skip the initial rush there and go an hour after opening so i an still get any early bird sales. I noticed that in the past 3 weeks, some places had certain things on sale at the Black Friday prices....nothing that I wanted or needed tho.

My girls and I went last year, I think or maybe the year before, and I bought the wallet that I still carry. It wasn't that bad actually.

Yes, I have noticed things on sale big time in the couple of stores I have been into.
When I did go to BF sales, I don't remember anyone fighting over anything. I might not be so observant. But I think we might just have more options here per capita. I found a Target a few years ago that felt like it hadn't been 'discovered'. I took John back there to show him because it was lovely. Close in parking, no crowds,no mess. no check-out lines. And it has been that way every year. It makes me wonder why that store is still there in that location? It does not seem that it has enough business to sustain itself.

I don't understand all the commotion over Black Friday. My parents won't be going because they don't have money to buy my siblings gifts. There are too many bills to pay. They're closing down the Circut City in my town.I hope they have enoughmoney to help me buy some veggie seeds.

Go Sheri, be brave! To everyone that hasn't gone before I challenge you to go! lol It's more fun if you have a friend with you though. thumbup

I can't wait to go, I'm more excited about that than Thanksgiving almost. lol

Actually I take it back, I'm super excited about Wednesday to see my brother! He will get in around 9pm at night....after an 8 1/2 hour drive depending on the weather. Only get to see him once a year anymore.

where does he live Loz? Does he only come once a year because you make him go shopping and it takes him that long to recover? haha

He's coming from Michigan.....and this is his FIRST year going! grin His girlfriend said, do you know what you are getting yourself roped into? lol I told him though it's not that bad here. We aren't in a big city area so you are hard pressed to see fights and people being super rude.

I can't wait to see his reaction to it all! grin

Tina, that IS early! The Prime Outlets have Midnight Madness and open well, at Midnight. If you go in your PJ's you get a free gift or something. It's almost 2 hours away though so we aren't going there.

thats what the rumor was on some post here awhile back, now i can't find it... durnit
but when i mentioned that to the gal at walgreens, she kinda got that "deer in the headlights look" on her face. so, we will just have to see. regardless, i am dragging my dear grandkids over to walgreens and we are getting them each a webkinz cares pet, because they need to see that money spent sometimes is money shared.

I thought the ads come out in Thursdays papers and people spend time checking out their 'route' from those. I am just not sure.

Sheri I do both when I go.

I have a list of what each store has that I am interested in, but then I always keep an eye out for whatever might be availabe.

I thought about those employees too but in my world they would be people from a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving day, at this time of year anyway, so they will have one of their customary holidays off at another time.

People in my grocery store were talking about working tomorrow. It was on a volunteer basis and the $ was good, very good so they didn't have a shortfall of people.

What's Captain D's?

I saw McDonalds was open here and the drive thru was busy. I thought that was sort of sad. Having McDonalds on T-day.
