This simple pattern makes a really nice boot style slipper and is easy enough for even a beginner. They are also remarkably stretchy so exact sizing isn't an issue. Even better, they can be made with a nearly endless variety of yarns to suit any taste. A fluffy pair made up in fake fur; a manly pair in camoflage or make a bold stripe by alternating colors by row... they all work really well.

For Children's sizes try an E or F Hook
For Adult sizes try a J or K Hook.

SPECIAL STITCHES

2-triple cluster = YO twice, insert hook in stitch, draw through a loop, YO, pull through two loops, YO, draw through two more. YO twice more, insert hook in next stitch, draw through a loop, YO, pull through two loops, YO, draw through two more loops, YO and draw through all three loops on hook.

3-triple cluster = work in the same manner as the 2-triple cluster, but continue into the third stitch and finally draw through all FOUR loops on hook.

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

dc dec = decrease by working a dc over two stitches.

These slippers are made in one continuous manner so there are no seams to sew.

First, establish your foundation

Ch 21

Next, shape the sole by working rows 1 to 4

Row 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook; sc in the next 10 ch; hdc; dc in the next 7 ch; 7 dc in last ch. Now, continuing around so you work the opposite side of the chain (DO NOT TURN AND GO BACK!) dc in the next 7 chain; hdc; sc in the next 10 ch; 2 sc in last ch. Join. You now have 47 stitches.

Row 2: ch 1; sc in same stitch as joining; 2 sc in next stitch; sc in next 11; hdc in next 9; 2 dc in next stitch; 3 dc in next stitch; 2 dc in next stitch; hdc in next 9; sc in next 11; 2 sc in next stitch; sc in last. Join. 53 sts.

Row 3: ch 1; sc in same stitch as joining; 2 sc in next stitch; sc in next 22 stitches; hdc in next; 2 dc in next stitch; 3 dc in next stitch; 2 dc in next stitch; hdc in next; sc in next 22, 2 sc in next, sc in last. Join. 59 sts.

Row 4: ch 1; sc in same stitch as joining; 2 sc in next; sc in next 25 stitches; 2 sc in next; sc in next; 3 sc in next; sc in next; 2 sc in next; sc in next 25; 2 sc in next; sc in last. Join. 65 sts.

Next, work Row 5, the transition row between sole & boot top. Here you have the choice of working regular sc's or working in Back Loop Only. It doesn't alter the shape of the finished boot, either way.

Row 5: sc around. Join.

Next, shape the toes and boot by working rows 6 through 9:

Row 6: ch 2; dc in same stitch as joining; dc in the next 26 stitches; (2-triple cluster over next two stitches) twice; 3-triple cluster over the next three stitches; (2-triple cluster over the next two stitches) twice; dc in the next 27 stitches; skip beginning ch 2 and join.

Row 7: ch 2; dc dec in same stitch as joining and next stitch; dc in next 22 stitches; (2-triple cluster over next two stitches) twice; 3-triple cluster over the next three stitches; (2-triple cluster over the next two stitches) twice; dc in the next 22 stitches; dc dec over the last two stitches; skip beginning ch 2; join.

Row 8: ch 2; dc dec in same stitch as joining and next stitch; dc in next 18 stitches; (2-triple cluster over next two stitches) twice; 3-triple cluster over the next three stitches; (2-triple cluster over the next two stitches) twice; dc in the next 18 stitches; dc dec over the last 2 stitches. Join.

Row 9: ch 2; dc dec in same stitch as joining and next stitch; dc in next 14 stitches; (2-triple cluster over next two stitches) twice; 3-triple cluster over the next three stitches; (2-triple cluster over the next two stitches) twice; dc in the next 14 stitches; dc dec over the last 2 stitches. Join.

Finally, shape the cuff by working rows 10 and 11. Here you also have the option of working with a smaller hook and/or changing colors.

Row 10: ch 2; dc around; join.

Row 11: ch 2; hdc around. Join and cut yarn. Weave in ends.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.
