At the hospital today, it was an unusual enough sight to see people bundled up in heavy coats and watch caps. They didn't even shed them when they got indoors. You know it is a cold day in Cal when you see that. I am having fun with the weather because I know it won't stay around. It would not be so much fun if I had this all winter like some. I have a pair of raccoons playing in the snow on the roof. That is fun too.

I can just "see" all the people around you dealing with the inclement weather that you are having now------I myself am so tired of it all already and I know there is even worse weather, further north----
racoons are fun until they burrow under your house........

Good Morning.... Coffee is brewing, tea too- even have hot choc here... how about some wonderful pastries from the bake shop.... eggs and bacon too- or fluffy pancakes and your choice of fruit toppings ... french toast too...or breakfast burritos with fresh handmade tortillas and salsa.....biscuits and gravy , bagels and your choice of toppings, come on in and enjoy! Cold her again today- 18* right now-- BRRRRRRR... we are supposed to get more snow today too - hopfully not much cause I will be shoveling it - hubby's back went out again and I don't want another 6 months of him hurting with it- he can walk okay right now but it is the shoveling that makes it go out so will try to keep it up as much as I can - he hates it when I do it but oh well--- I get the boys for breakfast today too so better get moving so will be ready for them.... laundry today too and making up banana breads for gift giving,Joe taking to work, and the kids too.... and making a batch of sugar cookie dough for the kids to cut out and decorate - think I will be only doing snow men for them this yr -- keeping it simple.... Nana
I like my sugar cookies plain. But decorating snowmen will be fun for the boys, Nana. We lost power last night before 9 so we all just went to bed. We didn't bother with the generators. The raccoons on the roof were entertainment until we slept. The snow is still on the ground but most of it will melt away today. Meanwhile, local roads are iced without the equipment and materials to deal with it. It is fun and rare for us until sometime in February or so to get weather like this. So we will sit in the warmth and enjoy it.

I like them plain too Tina but they like to play with the icing and decor stuff so they can have fun and I will send them home.... with sugar highs... I did the school run for the little boys today - carrie forgot it was her day to take Joseph to school so they were running late... but we made it as the first bell rang so all was well... these extra cold mornings just take more time with hats and gloves involved and walking carefully cause it is icy too. Well off to get laundry done and vacuum too before boys are here again this afternoon... Timothy wants a just him and Nana day dureing school break - that usually involves us going to a movie and out to lunch --- just him and me- so hopefully we can manage that sometime after Christmas- we ususally do it once year,he wants to see the new movie Desperaro... I think it's called- Nana
Sorry I haven't been around but my mouse broke so I couldn't get on yesterday at all and had to wait until my girl went shopping this morning.
Meantime I made Maxi a beautiful red & white stripped Christmas Shopping because his old one had seen better days. This one is big, too. He is gonna love it!
Now I will browse the forum and read up on what I've missed, so I'll be here awhile.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Oh, Merme. I thought you might be sleeping to catch up from your sleepless nights. A broken mouse is nasty. I have a back up sitting in the other room just in case. A hand me down wireless that I didn't want to mess with at the time it was given to me. But it makes me feel better knowing it is there. I am very glad you have a new one and are back. Welcome home! Nana, the scientists swear that sugar doesn't cause hyperactivity in kids, but I'm still not sure. I know it gives me an energy burst and kids are so much smaller... That being said, I never restricted my kids sugar intake and they learned some healthy choices on their own.

I just ran a line of white glue down the crochet red ribbon I made to adorn Maxi's stocking. Then I sprinkled it with gold glitter. When it dries I'll shake off the excess and it should be pretty. I know I have some gold jingle bells around here someplace and I'd like to sew them to the ends of the bow if I can find the silly things! I see them all year but now I can't remember where.
Last night I watched an HGTV show about decorating for Christmas at the White House. It was really neat.

I took Jonni out with me when I ran some errands today. Someone had given the kids a gift certificate for Target for the holidays. So we stopped by and shopped a little. We chose a marble maze thing for Ted and when we got home Jonni set it up for him. He is truly enjoying watching those marbles twirl and spin their way down through the maze and then doing it all over again. A perfect gift for him. Jonni is now off watching her new dvd's. A nice quiet day in Mayberry here.

Oh, pancakes and sausage sounds good. I might just do some breakfast for dinner too. Omelets? Eggs and hash browns? Hmm. I think I'll nap on it and see how it all sounds when I wake.

Hi all again, I have been making up cookie dough for later... started laundry- went to store with Carrie to get mom's prescription I totally forgot about yesterday... was sitting by back door to remind me--- you know hidden in plain sight..got the dishwasher running too. . now I have the 3 boys playing upstairs... just rescued Nicoli from getting his foot stuck in recliner in couch - don't know how he managed it but he stuck it in between the 2 parts of the recliner... he is fine though - just scared him. It is dark here already - our nice day is gone- started and stopped snowing a while ago- now the temps are dropping quickly again- another round of cold for us.... Merme the new stocking for Maxi sounds good- hope you find the bells- probably the same place my schedule calender is- been looking for it for 3 days I know it is here but where is a good question- good things the kids are out of school after tomorrow .. hopefully will find it before they go back. Tina I know what the scientists say about sugar and kids but after a lifetime of raising them I think it makes them hyper... I don't really limit it either but do try to limit the sweet stuff to once in a while - save the dental bills... Nana
OH, I so missed you guys! the county fixed a huge hole on our road the other day and hit the phone lines. But............I"M BACK! did I miss anything?

Did you see that I posted (finally) the instructions for the crochet slippers?
I didn't have a mouse for a couple days so I have been off also. Now I am reading to catch up.
It is good to see you on again.

Welcome back Cricket. I think everyone is very busy this time of year and a lot only stop by to check in. So no, you really didn't miss much that is not easily caught up on.

Oh, that was the other thing. My OT was here today and saw the slippers I had made Maxi and his little brother. She hired me to make a pair for her son for Cristmas. I have one 1/2 done so far so she'll be able to pick them up tomorrow. I made them in tan with a medium blue cuff. They are nice.

merme, all your work sounds great. i so wish you had a digital camera. and i'm glad you could make a little money. i know that helps!
cricket, welcome back i've been falling asleep on my keyboard before i can get more than 2 posts in
carol, sorry i missed you
nana, my 5th grade teacher always said if you stand up, your brain sits down. she made us stand to answer questions. but i find the surest way to forget where something is is to get up to go get it.
tina, i'm glad you found something. i know that was a concern, what to get! and i'm glad you and jonni were able to have the shopping time together
if i missed anyway, i'm sorry i was just answering what i remember from just reading. and my brain is still tired
thanks for the warm welcome back. no, merme. I haven't seen the crochet instructions yet. I'll be sure to look for that. last night while I was pacing around not knowing what to do in between chores since we had no phone service and I couldn't get on the computer. I got the yarn out I purchased to make those slippers from your pattern. I started making the kids a small throw blanket each. then, I have to admit, the idea hit me of what you are doing for maxi. (I won't say too much, but it involves popcorn) anyway, I thought I'd do the same thing for my kidos. I hope you don't mind me stealing your idea. but, as the kids get older the gifts get harder. you can't just stroll down the toy asle and throw stuff in the cart and your done.

sheri, i get that. i am exhausted most days. and go to bed a lot of them as soon as i get in the door. i just don't always go right to sleep. if i'm awake, i will get on here. but somedays turning on the computer is a waste of time, i just sleep at it instead of working on it.
I am very exhausted today. this has been an extreamly long week for me for some reason. every day I wake up and say 'man, 3 more days still...2 more days still....and now I'm saying ONE MORE DAY STILL!

I'm gonna pittle here at the computer for just a few. I'm waiting on the wild banchees to settle down (the kids) then I'll be off of here, to stretch out in my warm bed and crochet on their blankets for a bit.
my signature line says 'wheres spring?', but I'm thinking 'where's saturday?'

Hi Merme, I am here but just about ready to hit my bed... tired tonight... spent the afternoon holding Nicoli till he went to sleep , he has the cold- sinus thing now poor kid... but this way he will feel better by Christmas I hope. I finally found a way to get more liquid into my Mom- she wouldn't drink water- or any juice... or tea or fruit 2 O water... and I rarely buy soda but that is what she will drink so have been buying her soda to drink and give her at least 2 a day... hopefully it will be enough to keep her from UTI's-- at least it is liquid and doc said anything I can get her to drink would help... We are having another cold wave come thru tonight- it is getting colder but house is nice and warm tonight - between the oven and the dryer going it helps keep us warm, snowed for a little while but we aren't supposed to get very much. Well I am falling asleep now sitting here... going to go change the load in the washer to the dryer and go to bed now.... need to get up early tomorrow and clean the house before the kids get here in the afternoon... Nana
