Hi.

I belong to the Boys & Girls Club. They gave me two of the Twilight Books for Christmas. This series is about Vampires. I am on page 13 of the first book and it is good so far.

I also belong to the Center For Grieving Children, in a program for kids who are not bereaved yet. They gave me a a special fleece blanket that is cool. Most fleece blankets are tied along the edges but mine was made of small squares tied together so the front is all fluffy with the ties! And it is very colorful!

Santa always brings me good books for Christmas, so I am wondering which ones he will bring me this year! Last year I received the Lord of The Rings trilogy plus the Hobbit.

Hi Maxi. I've read all 4 of the Twilight books and I LOVE them! :ding: They are very good. I think you'll like them a lot. thumbup You'll have to let me know what you think. I really love Edward, the main vampire character.

Your fleece blanket sounds very special. That was super nice of them to get you that. clap

I hope you and your mom both have a wonderful Christmas tomorrow! kissie

Hi Maxi~

Well, as a mother, I usually do not allow my young son to read Vampire stories but this series seems to be highly regarded. I will probably read them myself, also, to know what my kid is taking in. A mom can't be too careful, you know.

lol

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Vampire books are my favorite! grin But these books are tame enough for a teen to read. thumbup And it's a great love story. And oh Edward is fantastic. I want my own Edward. grin

I'm glad you are having a nice Christmas Eve Maxi--you and your mom deserve to have a wonderful Christmas. thumbup

Hi Maxi and Merme,
I read the Twilight books too- Loz is right they are okay for a teen- specially if Mom reads too and you all discuss them, used to do that with my oldest dd... she is a reader too like me.

Hope you all have a happy and wonderful Christmas... !

I haven't read them myself, but a lot of my friends really like the books. They were crazy over the movie when it came out a few weeks ago. I think one of the guys in the movie played Cedric in one of the Harry Potter movies - the girls were all over him lol I'm not much for vampires, but the series is VERY popular up here. When I was up in Quebec during the summer, and another book in the series came out, literally all the students crowed into the tiny bookstore to get it...they only stocked 2 copies!

My daughter, Jonni (17) has read all of these books too over this past summer. She enjoyed them but thought they were a little tame. I guess she likes her vampires more gruesome. lol
I agree reading just about anything is good for a growing mind. And discussing the ideas and plots with parents is important too. I believe having a lot of prior notice of possible pitfalls helps a person make the right decisions in life. It is easier to take the most proper path for you when you have an idea what might be hiding around the corner on your other path alternatives. A kind of forewarned is forearmed kind of thing.

I have read the Twilight and am now reading New Moon.....LOVE THEM!!! I soo want an Edward!! Has anyone read the what is written for the draft of Midnight Sun off of Stephenie Meyers' page?? It is incomplete, but SOOOOOOOOOO good! It is Twilight from Edward's perspective instead of Bella's.

Well, let me put it this way. Jonni read them all. The too tame might have been more attitude because she avoids enthusiasm when something is as popular as these. A friend keeps giving her Hollister and Abercrombie clothing items. She won't wear them because they are popular. So I am not sure how accurate her views reflected how she truly felt about the books or an adopted attitude. (but this attitude saves me from having to buy brand name stuff and pay the price, so not complaining)

Your girl is a winner......my son was that way too when young.
He didnt want designer anything.

He is still dark color fellow.. Black or dark green.. His wife is dark green fan.

...About a third of the way through New Moon right now....and FURIOUS with Edward. I read on the author's site that she tells people to read this book twice because she has found that they rush through it waiting for Edward to appear again...and she's right!!!! I am trying to MAKE myself read it slowly, but it just isn't happening. lol

I read these books and loved them! It took me months to get the girls to finally start reading them. They didn't think they'd like it because their not usually into darker stories, but they loved theses books more than I did! The three of us had a girls night out and saw the movie together. It was a lot of fun.

Maxi is about 150 pages into the first book and he says it is very good so far.

I'm glad to hear all of your positive comments about this series since I was reluctant to let him read them.

To be honest I might reread them again soon. I think they are great books for teens and adults. My 40 year old sister was the latest Twilight junkie in my family. She read all 4 books in 2 days. My 17 year old niece is ADDICTED to them. She can tell you everything from all of the books....she even knows a bunch of the quotes out of them.

I watched the movie for free on Youtube. They took it off now due to copyright violations, but it was not very good compared to the book(which I pretty much figured--books are always better). I think my fav. part of the movie was the baseball scene.

I really didn't tink the movie was very well made, but I know that books are always better than the movies!

My DIL decided that she has to get the series, and she is going to watch the movie with her daughter and discuss it with her. She said that she knows that she will love it!

Stephen and I went to see the movie on Monday....we went on a date. notme Anyways, I was REALLY disappointed in the movie. There was SSOOOOOOOO much that didn't follow the book at all!! The movie would have been perfectly fine if they had followed the book exactly. It is a wonder that the Twilight fans loved it soo much. I mean, I'm having a hard time figuring out why Stephenie Meyer signed off on the screen play itself!

I just finished the series this morning...I'm in love with Edward. LOVED the series! This is the most that I have read in years and years. My brain officially needs a break now. lol

I finally had the chance to pick up Maxi's copy and started it. What I've read so far was really well done. It is an easy-on-the-eyes kind of read. Unfortunately he took it with him tonight so I have to wait til Friday for my next installment.

my 11 year old grand daughter Alexis read the books and saw the movie. She loved the books and has all the stickers, shirts, key rings and stuff to go with them, but even she was disappointed in the movie.

Merme, I'm glad you liked what you read so far! If Stephen wasn't half way through my copy, I'd send it up for you to borrow. I bought it at Sam's Club for $4.88 and it has been passed around quite a bit. The cover is all beat up, but that's what the best books look like, right?

If you go to the author's website, she has the draft of Midnight Sun that was leaked online. It is the first book written from Edward's point of view. It is incomplete, but I really really liked it. It made some parts of Twilight make more sense...knowing exactly what Edward was thinking when he said certain things. I'm going to read Twilight again now that I have more of Edward's personality understood in my mind.

Maxi, the beginning of it was a little bland, I agree, but New Moon does get better...tho, I did feel like throwing the book against the wall at one part....but it got better.

Maxi, if you go to Stephenie Meyer's website and click on the Twilight Saga area, there is a link to read the draft for "Midnight Sun". It is incomplete, but I think you would really like it. It is Twilight written from Edward's perspective. It is a pretty short read and it comes up as an Adobe file, so you can save it to the computer and just read it on the computer. Reading that before I read New Moon really helped me understand Edward better.
