Has anyone noticed the planets lining up in the western sky at dusk?

This is Venus high in the sky with a narrow crescent moon below. Jupiter is very faint below and to the right of the moon.

A closer shot shows the moon and Jupiter with Mercury fainter and almost directly below Jupiter.

Wednesday evening at dusk, the moon and Mercury will approach to within 1.2 degrees of each other

AHEM!!! And who might that friend have been??? notme why haha

I, too, love to watch the sky at night, and can't wait for Don to set up the humungous telescope that my cousin gave him last fall. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures, Terry, and identifying what we might be seeing in the skies!

I just noticed, I made a mistake in my first post. I should have said that JUPITER and Mercury would be 1.2 degrees apart tomorrow evening (12/31) NOT the moon and Mercury.

Here are more pics from tonight.
