Following the tradition of dreaming up at least one New Year's Resolution, Maxi and I like to come up with something of a challenge for ourselves.

This year, I have selected "be a nicer person".

I know it is kind of vague and I could easily change the goal at whim by redefining what exactly I mean by "nice", but my intention is sound. Put simply, I won't be such a crank pot in 2009.

Any Resolutions on your mind?

Being nice is a good one though. What is Maxi's resolution?

Loz my mom always says that even if we don't keep our Resolutions it is still fun to make a list! And if we try to keep them but only do it for a litttle while, it is better than not doing it at all. "Every little bit helps!"

"If at once you don't succeed, try, try again!!!"

We have many mottos in our house!!!

Okay---well I told my doctor that after New Years I'd like to quit smoking. Mark asked me if I was going to quit tomorrow. I said. I didn't say right after the New Years, just sometime AFTER it. lol egad I know, I'm terrible.

Maxi, I like your resolution! thumbup That's a good one.

I think my real resolution will be to apply myself more in life. I tend to slack off a bit sometimes. I have a big online course that isn't doing itself....and I've slacked off with the holidays being here. Now I need to jump back into it and really apply myself.

My resolution is to speak openly to my kids more---

**they are forever saying things to me, and I just stand there & say nothing (DH says not to interferte**...

WELL I figure it can also be construed as me not caring. if the kids didn't want input why else would they bring things up---so while I promise to be very careful in what I say & when--I will be speakikng out more---- bow

OH!!!...And then there is that 'I need to lose weight thing'.......

I do not make new years resolutions....rather, I have a list of things that I want to do before I die (anyone ever see A Walk to Remember?)...so I tend to work off of that list throughout the year. Sometimes I add onto that list if something strikes me as important enough.

Every year I also put "Learn Latin" on my list because that is something I've always wanted to do. I know some, but not enough to have it proudly put on my tombstone "She Knew Latin!" THAT would make me feel like I Had Achieved Something In Life.

Latin is very easy...you just start with the basic word and add"cus" to the end of it...or sorta like that.

Coffee Machine = 'Coffee Machinicus'
Lola = 'Badus Birdicus'

...and so on and so forth.

try adding -ae, -i, or -e like kenny-e lol Try using weird latin phrases periodically, especially if someone is annoying you like: Te audire non possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure. If you want to try classic Greek, I have an electric copy of an older textbook I can share with you grin

I've always put loose a few pounds, but was never able to. Guess I'll try again this year grin

And then you can learn to speak Spanish. Just add an "o" to the end of every word.

Soon we will all be polyglots.

Diane ~ you really got watch out for those Resolutions that strike you in the head! lol

Sheri ~ When I was in Europe I met a young man who insisted all you need to do to speak French is to purse your lips! Whatever you say, a French person will understand you if you do that! I can only imagine some of the situations he got into speaking English with pursed lips expecting French ears to understand! lol
