Awwww......I guess can live without the coffee right now.

Tina, what a morning you had huh? I don't know how many times I thought my kids were faking it only to get a call later from the school. never got a call from bus driver though. you take the cake on that one!

what a great day I've had! I was off work and got SO many things done.
paid bills, dollar store, grocery store, made muffins for after school snack, cooked burgers, chopped up lots of things for burger fixins, cooked taco meat for wed night supper, made some breakfast tacos, laundry, dishes, helped with homework.
I wouldn't want to go back to not working again but it is a special treat staying home now and then!

how was everyone elses first day back to the grind stone???

Cricket, I haven't had to go back to the grindstone yet. I'm not going to be fit to kill after this vacation.

Cute picture Sheri!!

My first day back was alright Cricket. Getting up this morning was the hardest part. Once I was at work it was alright. I think the hardest part is going to be having to work 5 days this week. lol

5 days is way to long. I'm for the 4 day work week.

Tina, I'm amazed that the bus driver would drop your child off anywhere but school or home. How does she feel now?

My daughter, Shelley, dropped Aubry off at 7:00 today because Darbi had a field trip and they have to have parents go. They can't ride with the students on the bus so she had to drive her own car. They went to a place called Biz Town, which is a place in Charlotte where students find out about running a business. She had to park in a deck and it cost her $20.00.

I'm not sure if you were asking me how long I'll be off, but I go back tomorrow. it will be an easy week -short days every day all week. wha-hoo!
yea, I"m surprised at the bus driver wanting to drop her off on the side of the road too????

That surprises me too! That wouldn't happen here or there'd be BIG trouble.

We're in for a day of freezing rain tomorrow, I'm guessing school will be canceled and nobody will be going anywhere. Can't do much with ice on the roads.

Just had a big bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream....Mark had to get it for me though as the dog has his head on my foot---good pillow I guess. lol

Wow! I have been on all of Tristen's field trips so far and the parents ride on the bus with the kids. That is a hefty parking fee.

haha You didn't want to wake the dog up?!? lol

They wouldn't drop a kid off here either unless it was the bus stop. Do you know the bus driver well, Tina? Maybe that is why. why I still can't see it happening here though.

our steet here is a one way in and one way out basically. if you meet a vehicle someone has to get partially off the road and onto the shoulder. one day the garbage truck was blocking the road with a flat tire. the bus driver wouldn't even let my kids off 50 yards from their own drive way!

I've heard bus drivers calling the school in the morning because they are refusing to let a sick child onto the bus, but once they're on they have to make their rounds and then come to the school. The driver always says "I don't want them vomitting on my bus." I guess they're responsible for clean up.

Jessica, parents riding the bus stopped here 4 or 5 years ago. It's still a requirement to have chaperones on field trips but not on the bus. And what's worse is the students are required to ride the bus back to the school so the parents have to go all the way back to school to pick them up.

I am sure she wasn't supposed to. But it sure beats cleaning up your bus after someone gets sick. And I am not turning her in. She did a big favor for everyone.

This is sad. Probably an insurance issue. Our chaperoning parents can still ride the bus. But I chose to drive most times. And I almost always just came straight home with whichever munchkin whose class I was going with.

I don't know the reason but it's county wide.

I think it was an appropriate time to bend the rules. I'm glad she didn't have to ride to school feeling so bad.

I guess it's up to the district. I've gone on field trips and brought my little ones straight home with me if I drive.
but as far as day to day school bus activity they stick to the rules here!

I am glad I got her in time to not throw the whole bus into a tizzy. Sometimes in a crowd losing your cookies causes a chain reaction. Then she also desperately needed a bathroom around the same time. I don't think I could have gotten her to school again even with a crowbar if she had lost it all on the bus.

Oh I think it was an appropriate time to bend the rules too. She is at that age that it would have been terribly embarrassing to get ill on the bus. I am glad you were able to get her in time, Tina!

Well, I've been toting around a chemo/radiation patient and keeping plenty of plastic bags in my van. I am grateful for that too. I really don't want to have it detailed yet.

Hi everyone--
\first let me say---sheri that is a real cutie pie you have there---and such a precious picture...and a 3 week winter break--wow I am impressed--good for you !!!

Tina--I am glad that the bus driver did bend the rules-----while she may have been doing herself a favor getting Jonni off of her bus before she got ill, in reality she did Jonni and you the largest favors. I hope Jonni feels well soon--and that she does not "share" with the rest of you .

cricket---good night to you.

I don't believe the bus driver had the option. I believe she took un-allowed liberties. And I am so glad she did. I will be needing to thank her.

Good morning, everybody!

I'm off to an early appointment w/ the back specialist.

What has me in a tizzy is that my girl has completely misplaced my slacks so I am going out today in SHORTS! yikes Maxi helped me with the laundry over the weekend, so I know they were clean. I heard the girl say she emptied the dryer yesterday. But heaven help me I can't find them anywhere! She will be here later today and I'm going to tell her the only places my slacks should be are... on my body, in the laundry, or put away in my slack drawer!

Gotta run for now. Glad the coffee is so good.

Catch you all later.

Merme

oh merme. somehow try and stay warm!
angleblossom it will be in the 50's today, 60's tomorrow, then almost 70 the following day. I do believe it will get cooler again around the weekend, but I don't think the freezing rain will make it this far. I hope!
well, I'm off to start my day.
I have a wardrobe issue today too, merme. but not as bad as yours. I was needing some jeans or shorts SO badly. didn't feel like going all the way to the city, so I got some jeans at the dolar store in town. they have purple sequence on the back pockets. I feel like a 10 year old. rolz but they are comfy and I have on a long shirt. AND they were only 10 bucks!
have a good one everyone!

Wow, SHORTS!!!!!! Poor Merme, she's going to freeze. I'm cold thinking about it!

Morning Cricket and Tina. wavy

Hey, at least the jeans were $10! That's a good deal. thumbup

Schools here are all closed today due to freezing rain. I'm having mom, dad, and athena over for dinner later.....Mom got me a new lasagna pan for Christmas and it's SO deep and big. I added a whole extra layer....so we'll have that and garlic bread and I'm making flower cupcakes in my new silicone cupcake mold....

Mark was a big dummy and went out today to his moms.....it's icy too. He should've stayed home but his deer bologna is finished being made and he wanted to go pick it up.

I am usually gone, taking Ted to school by now. But we are running a wee bit later than usual today. He will still be there in plenty of time. I must have needed the sleep in. John also needed the sleep. He is up now and getting ready for his hospice nurse. After I drop Ted, I am going to work. It is cold out there. I want to crawl back under my blankets like Teddy did after he dressed.
