Oh I just love my Cardinals! They such bright and lovely birds and I love listening to their music. I have a couple that resides in my yard and every spring they give me about 4 beautiful babies. I call them Heart and Soul. Heart is the female and Soul is the male. This is a picture of soul but I can never get Heart to stay still ong enough for me to get a good picture of her. Guess she is camera shy.

I love cardinals too. mainly cause they are about the only bird I can attract and keep for any period of time. I'm still waiting on mine to come back. maybe in a couple of months? I have a ton of chicadees but they stay off in the woods. not the greatest pic you ever took, dodge....but you DID catch them!

dodge, I did see Mrs. Cardinal today with your boyfriend but didn't have my camera.
Red is a pretty color on a bird.

What in the world is a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet? Tiny little egg-shaped Winter bird. Member of the Flycatchers. Males have a spot of BRILLIANT red on top of their heads. They LOVE Peanut flavored suet. EXTREMELY hyperactive, EXTREMELY tame, and EXTREMELY friendly. I took THIS picture two years ago on the railing of my deck. I was only 12 inches away from him when I took it. They are tamer than Chickadees. RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET (MALE) ![[Linked Image]](http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a327/Thornius/Ruby-CrownedKingletMale01-1.jpg) There is also a Golden-Crowned Kinglet here in Winter but they prefer the TOPS of VERY tall trees. I see them but haven't gotten a picture of one yet.

Wow, it is the funniest thing but yesterday I was sitting on the step on my carport getting the feed ready to go distribute among my squirrel feeders when this little bird flew up under the car port and landed on the passengers side out side mirror and started singing the sweetest little song. I looked up to see what kind it was and low and behold it was a little male Golden crown Kinglet. And his mate or at lest one he was considering for a mate was on the Camellia tree right next to the carport edge answering back. I almost frightened a friend who I was on the phone with at the time, when I squilled with joy over getting to see them that close to me especially after having just seen that photo that morning and commenting on it.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.

Ooh, Dodge you got Dark-Eyed Juncos, often called Snowbirds, IN THE SNOW!!! Note the pale pink bills against the VERY black upper body. Quite striking I think. They are a favorite of ALL birders.

Was it a Golden-Crowned Kinglet, or the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet that I posted. Ruby-Cowned Kinglets have one of the prettiest, sweetest songs you'll ever hear! It is an ascending in scale series of warbles and triplets that takes your breath away. I heard one singing it the other day.

ooops my bad! It is the Ruby. I just looked up under the picture that you posted and didn't read properly as I should have. Today the female flew up and landed on the same mirror just as i got in the car and started to leave. I assume that it is a female. looked the same just didn't have the red on the head.
