Great shot Dodge! What settings did you use. I'm not sure what it is, but my first guess is Pine Siskin.
Here are some pics I posted last February:
It looks like there's a bit of yellow on the right wing, and underneath the left on your pic, Dodge.

YEP! That's a Pine Siskin! GREAT SHOT! They RARELY come to Tennessee. I've only seen them personally once, about 15 years ago at my Mother's farm.

I don't have any unusual birds in my yard. Just the same ones over and over.

Why is that Thornius? To where do dodge's bird migrate? Why don't the visit me? Is it the heat or food variety?

You get unusual birds in your yard. you just have to look CAREFULLY for them. I have had Canada Geese, Great Blue Herons, Ring-Billed Gulls, and Yellow-Billed Cuckoos in my yard throughout the year.

You should live next to me. You'd laugh. I'm constantly running around the yard taking pictures of birds. They're always the same ones. I'm out in my nightgown, hair sticking up everywhere, any time I see a bird I fly out the back door like a lunatic camera in hand. I did see a pileated wookpecker one time but didn't have my camera with me. My husband thinks I've lost it.
