I had a one-legged friend. We were going on a trip. His son (an adult) was packing for him and went off to get socks. He hollered out from the bedroom, "Dad, I can't find a pair of socks in here". We didn't answer, just laughed.

Well, that same friend used to really gripe about having to buy a pair of shoes when he only needed a left one. He kept saying he was going to put an ad in the paper for a right footed guy wearing the same size so they could split the cost. He never wore his prosthesis. I loved driving his car because I could switch off feet on long trips.

It was an older car before cruise control was very prevalent. There was just an additional foot pedal on the left side of the brake connected to the regular gas pedal. So you could use either foot.
Now my friend who was a paraplegic and had hand controls was a different story. I only used the foot controls and tried to leave the hand stuff alone except it kept getting caught up in my hands in normal use. I found another para to give that one to after my friend died and left me with his car.

Hi again folks!
I know I am a total stranger, I try to play catch up and read the coffee house before this one.
I am so lost I do not know anything thats going on.
So I will just say hello and hope all are well in this nutsy weather.
Yesterday morning I woke to 10 degrees below Zero. shock
It was sunny by 8 am and by noon it was 10 above. No wind so it was tollerable.
This morning I woke to minus 2.. small improvement. Today it got to 13, sunny but still windy.
Just nuts.. my furnace just runs and runs.
It is supposed to moderate next week.
OH spring!!! Do hurry PLEASE! prayers

I was gonna read back, ditchy...but I'll share your guilt and not read back either.
I'm not gonna complain about our weather today. we supposedly had a good freeze last night, but bundled up this morning it was not too bad. and we got up to lower 50's. so all is well. and no rain!
I'm burning a small fire outside.
should I EVEN invite anyone this time? tapfoot
come on if you want, but I WONT leave the porch light on for you this time! lol

83* here today. And still warm but windy. It was a good fairly relaxing day in comparison to some lately. I am ready for a long weekend.

Make sure you wear your pj bottoms to prove something to them,Cindy. I know for a fact you are only a wee bit touched (by an angel). You can tell them that.

Tell them you are NOT crazy, afgrey! Tell them you are colorful!!

I had an unbelievable day today but Maxi got here on time and so all is well that ends well. We had a nice dinner and hung out, chatting, watching TV and keeping warm! Not so easy to do when it is so far below zero but we are in good shape.

Tomorrow we are going to AC Moore's & also a quick stop at the grocery. Maxi is planning to cook a special dinner tomorrow night so he brought all the ingredients with him (and the recipe from a book of 30 minute meals), so I'm just picking up additional stuff for the rest of the weekend.

We NEED more Bugles!! lol

The back specialist gave me 3 shots today in my right hip/butt. He numbed the area first, but it was still quite painful & I've been miserable ever since if anything touches me there. The dialysis chair was awful afterwards! He has injected me before and so I know that tomorrow I will be feeling great but tonight I'm still too tender.

I know I'm making GREAT progress though because tonight I was able to get down on the floor w/ Maxi and get back up very easily. I haven't been strong enough since September to even try to do that! Tonight it was a cinch!

That is awesome on your re-gained strength, Merme.
I got up way too early for a sleep-in Saturday morning. Good morning. First cup.

Ohhh Fernie's oatmeal is beginning to sound good. I've been doing paper work. Not my favorite way to start a Saturday morning. But it has to get done.

Well I have gotten to a "certain" age where watching my cholestrol is a part of my life. Oatmeal helps keep it within acceptable levels. And...I like it. neenee

Really I do feel wonderful this morning....the nearly constant fog isn't even depressing me today.

I love oatmeal too. Always have. And it is good food at a most reasonable cost.
I haven't a clue where my cholesterol level might be. Should check into that.

Oh Cindy and Jiffy nono

my cholestrol is really good now and it was borderline high. My husband has very high cholestrol and he hates oatmeal. He gets to eat it anyway.

Maybe I should put the recipe for winter cookies down in the recipe section. It has oatmeal, wheat germ and all kinds of healthy stuf but also chololate chips and raisins to make you forget they are good for you. grin

It's been a LONG and very cold day here, Tina.

I've opened a new CH because this one is almost full now.
