Hi all,
Spent today running around with Carrie and when I got home we set up our new Wii system...we got one to help get some exercise , gotta do something right?
The boys used it today- they have one so they played with it-- I will try it tomorrow before the boys get here... I want to get the Wii Fit and will as soon as I can find one for sale somewhere...
I just finished ironing too- watching Lost ... this is one confusing show for sure.... Joe hasn't watched it at all and asked me to explain it- told him I couldn't possible explain it to him .... he went back to watching tv downstairs....
I did get my draft doger snake made yesterday- used some pants legs off some old streach pants- then used Merme's idea of stuffing it will plastic bags... had just enough to do it too... used a dowel to push them down with to make it nice and fat... blocks the cold nicely too- or will when it gets cold again- been really warm the last two days- in the 70's... but we are supposed to get snow Fri night... I will try and take a good pic of it tomorrow and post it...
came out pretty good.
Well off to finish this confusing show- got to get to bed soon ... got lots to do tomororrow before the boys are here....

I can't wait to see pictures of your draft dodger, Nana.
I have had a long day again. I am going to go to bed. Way early for me but it goes like that sometimes.

boy, do I have a lot of dishes to do though. not because tonight was such a hassle, but there were already some left over from last in the sink. (shhhhh! don't tell anyone I left dishes that long.)

yea, merme. at the schools here the boys hair is not supposed to be below the bottom of the collar. they rarely enforce it though. there are other things to concentrate on, right.

Who made it the rule that women have to cook every night? I was a stay at home when my children were small so I did cook every day all day long. But now that I work I don't. If I had children at home I think I would ask my husband to pick up a day or 2 a week and if he didn't he wouldn't get any dinner. No wonder you're so tired all the time Cricket. You can't work all day, cook all night, do dishes and everything else.

I have a friend who has a very nice husband but if she knows in advance that she's not going to be home at night she has to cook in advance or have sandwhich stuff so that he can eat. I say he's not an idiot and he'll figure out how to eat when he's hungry.

You guys wear me out. tapfoot

I had tuna tonight too. Great minds Cindy Roscoe and I fixed it myself.

When we kids hit the ripe old ages of of ten and above, my mother (divorced) rarely cooked any more. We kids took it on.
For the most part, I agree with you, Sheri. My problem is possessiveness in my kitchen. Even if it was cleaned up after cooking, I still didn't like John messing with it.
Good morning. I'm still trying to figure out my plans for the day. First cup.

I agree Sheri! Unfortunately....it seems to be the way a lot of men grew up and expect it that way. I do not plan ahead for when I will be gone and cook meals or anything like that. James can find something on his own or eat take-out or something. He is a big boy! But...when I am home I do the cooking. I get really tired of thinking of what to make and he doesn't help with that either. I can't complain too much though...my SIL has to cook for her husband every night. I have been places with her and he will call and say...when are you going to be home because I am hungry! That is crazy to me and I tell her that she is crazy for going home and cooking for him!! Tell him to throw in a frozen pizza or something. He won't die without her there to cook for him. I couldn't take that.

When I was married to Maxi's dad, we shared the responsibility of cooking & cleaning. He worked full time outside of the home & I had the baby to care for, so we shared things. He would cook one night and I'd cook the next. Then, whoever didn't cook, did the clean up. It felt fair to us to do it that way. Sometimes I would cook on "his" night just because I'd get a good idea and I was at home already and could start it earlier.

I don't like to notice "helplessness" in adults... either men or women. Either gender can learn to do what is needful or hire someone or whatever.

Our sky is greying over today... storms from the Great Lakes are heading our way, expected to be here tonight.

My appointments for this afternoon got cancelled and I am just as glad not to be going out.

I went to work but there was nothing much to do. Winter is slow growing. So next week I will take hedge shears and pole saw and trim some stuff, palm fronds for one. That is if there is a dry day next week. They keep promising us rain and it isn't happening much yet.
John has a hankering for fish and chips so I will be swinging by his favorite place before I pick up Ted. I kind of have a hankering for tamales. Might just indulge myself, too.

Fish and chips does sound good, Tina. I hope John enjoys his.

I had a hankering for an ice cream sandwich when I woke up. I'm glad I had my girl pick some up the other day, so they were on hand. An ice cream sandwich is about the only kind of ice cream I ever want, and that not too often, so it is nice to have one when the mood strikes!!

I got my sewing machine & iron all set up because I had planned to sew today but now I don't want to crawl on the floor cutting out the fabric. I did sweep & mop to get it ready to handle the material safely, but I'm feeling not so ambitious.

So I think I will wait until Maxi comes home tomorrow and will just show him how to mark & cut the pieces for me.

At least now that the machine is set up I can get to the mending.

I have not minded going out and getting things done before. But I am pretty tired of some of the running I am having to do lately. All of the quick trips for this, that and the other thing have left me little time and energy for the things I really enjoy doing.

We just got 3 different Domino's pizzas for dinner. 3 for $5.55 each. Mushroom, pepperoni, and the 3rd one they messed up on and put 4 toppings on for the price of one. Steak, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Man that was good!

Now we're going over for strawberry cake at moms. With ice cream.

Sounds like everyone is eating well tonight. thumbup

Be back later. wavy

Oh finally got the Christmas stuff down today. lol I don't feel bad though because everyone but mom still has theirs up, it's been too cold to go outside.

I worked with a woman at the HD who has a husband that won't even make himself a sandwich. They live in a rural area so he can't fun to McDonalds or Pizza Hut if she doesn't cook. He will call her and ask what time she's coming home because he wants to eat. They must have had fights about it because she never waivers in the planning and the cooking. She had surgery while I worked there and her mom and daughter had to come take care of her and see that he was fed. I don't think I could live with someone like that.

Cindy Roscue, does Lola like catsup on her burger?

Loz, my tree is not decorated anymore but it's still standing in the corner.

That is always sad when you meet people who are so helpless in the kitchen or anywhere. John could and did cook and clean. Not the same way I do but I never needed to worry about anyone starving if I wasn't there to get it done.

Hi all,
I played with the Wii for a little while- only have the games it comes with- sports - I can bowl.. can't do the tennis or baseball and didn't even try the others- so I bowled for an hour and a half- it's kind of fun and definitly gets you moving- worked up a light sweat so that was good... I need more exercise for sure... Derek is playing now- he is good!

I have to make something for dinner tonight- can't think of what we want.. Joe isn't fussy and maybe he will make something- I have been trying to eat low fat for a while now again and it is hard when I have to feed Mom high calorie stuff and the kids want their own stuff and Joe has a craving for chili dogs or tacos ... I did buy a bunch of the steam fresh meals for 2- they are complete meals and only are lowfat too- filling too... need to go back and get more of them.... may just defrost some bbq chicken for them and have some tuna salad for me...
Well off to get some kind of dinner started for us all... Joe will be taking boys home soon .

Yes, ma'am. I make sure I get me time every day. Sometimes that means just stretching out on a sofa but that helps me through the days.

She likes everything except pickles. If I get a burger somewhere and bring it home to eat and it has pickles on it, she will dig them out and throw them...as far as she can. I always get slapped in the face with pickles when she does that. rolz

nana's playing the wii! that's cool.
I hear the sports games can be quite a workout. they even have wii games that are FOR work out too.
how is everyone this evening?
anyone have any big plans for the weekend.
I got some seeds today at the feed store! YEA! I'm about to bring up my file that says what can be planted where for our area. a buddy of mine is a master gardener and sent it to me a while back. hopefully there is something I can stick in some soil this weekend. my fingers are just itching to get in the dirt again. there should at least be something I can put in a container and bring in on the nights it freezes??? I'm so excited!

I finished my chores for tonight and realized I'm hungry for chips and dip. So, I broke into Maxi's leftover stash. Now I'm going to have to replace it! lol

But chips and French Onion Dip are yummy when the mood strikes!

Now I am ready for a last cup of Red rose Tea.

It isn't yet 9 here and I am ready for bed myself. I don't know if Ted will settle down any time soon. He came home from school and collapsed into a heavy nap. At least he is good if he is up in the night.

I hope Teddy settles for you soon, Tina, so you can get to bed without thinking if all is well with everyone tonight.

I'll be up for another hour and then I'll be off to bed myself. My tea is good.

Jonni is ready to go in about 10 minutes. I drive her down to meet her bus. It is damp rainy stuff and still to dark to be waiting alone on country roads. Ted is up and has eaten and is half dressed. I am half dressed. I think we might make it today. But I will take a third cup to go.

Talking about waiting on the bus, I had a job one time where I drove about 45 minutes to work through an area where students were waiting on the buses. This was before school uniforms. It was such fun looking at the kids because the boys were usually shorter than the girls, in big, baggy clothes looking really young and the girls looked like they shopped at Whores Are Us with more makeup than me. Poor boys. They don't stand a chance.
