OH MY Goodness---I am sitting here opening my mail & I have just opened what looks like a bill for a magazine subscription---not a subscription offer---since I knew I didn't order this magazine, I sat and read every word on the "statement"----in the fine print under "notice of renewal/New order" (which is strange in itself) I read---your subscription is automatic with receipt of your payment should you chose to respond to this "offer".

People like my MIL would go oh my goodness a bill, I must pay it!!!--I guess that is what these people are counting on????

That is indeed a scamish type thing. I've been getting them like that for at least a year. Mom got one the other day and said---I never ordered this magazine, why do I have a bill? I said, it's a bill if you CHOOSE to order the magazine. It really confused her, and the way it's worded is not good. I don't understand how they can get away with it. The one she got was for Better Homes and Gardens.

Thanks for the additinal heads up, Loz---I will be more careful myself from now on.

Mine was for Soap Opera Digest. I do not like this particular magazine so much or I might have convinced myself I had ordered it-- blush

All precautions has been taken to avoid any interruption, mistakes or law infringements, as we are bound to respect both country laws, both of us have primary roles to play in this co-operation. Just to buttress what I communicated with you in my proposal, my branch made the excess profit in the last financial summary of last year.

Only that all international transfers are to Pass through the head office of our bank, I deposited this money in Escrow account and the Bank cannot refuse to transfer the money or ask for the source of the Money because the money is already in their account, It will be a simple Bank-to-Bank transfer, the only thing the Bank would demand is the certificate of deposit of the money which I am in the position to issue in your favour, all you need, to make this dream come through within the shortest period of time is deep understanding, it's a very simple transaction just that it needs trustworthiness, optimism, Love and above all empathic understanding and hungry for synergism I mean a positive and abundance mentality, It’s very essential in this co-operation.

The most important thing is to keep the high secrecy which this transaction demands; you don't have to inform any body about this deal till we are through.

The time frame for the money to be transferred to your account depends on you and me, as soon as you provide me your account information's. I will forward a text of application to the Head Office and apply for the transfer of the money into your account, I will equip the Bank with all relevant documents for the transfer, Probably within two to three working days the Bank will transfer the money to your account.

I would really be glad if we can do this together because I intend to invest in your country, I need to start my own company and live strong like any other successful person. This fund is not related to drugs or anything illegal.

Please in your next mail I will need the following information's.

(1)Your Full Name and Address
(2) Your contact information's ,such as phone and fax numbers, etc.
(3) Occupation

Upon the receipt of the above mentioned information, I will place your name on the account and also send an application to the bank's head office in other for them to transfer the money into your designated bank account, everything has been carefully worked out,all that is left is for you to send this information ok.I wait your urgent reply and you can always reach me on this number +233 20 7699641

I started receiving Women's Day that I didn't order. Now I've started getting the bill. I just keep sending it back saying I didn't order it in the pre-stamped envelope they send.

You can actually tape that prepaid envelope and tape it to a box and they have to pay the postage on the whole thing, I'm told. If I got a lot of junk mail I would start doing something similar.

I know several people who do that---but they just return what was sent them--minus their address of course...

I used to do that too - put other ads in the return envelopes. Fortunately, that kind of junk mail has dropped quite a bit lately. I probably shouldn't say that - now I'll have an avanlanche of it, right???

by the way... did you all hear that the USPS wants to cut back delivery to only 5 days a week because of the economy??? They are not sure if they would drop Saturday, or a low delivery day like Tuesday! I am not liking this idea at all!

Yes, they formally asked Congress to amend the law that requires six days of delivery. I don't mind, I guess. Since they became the Postal Service after being the Post office, the prices have done nothing but rise. Service is still good though compared to a lot of the world. And still cheaper.

My postmaster is very helpful and informative,

but I must say she is constantly talking like the USPS is a business like say a grocery.---and really unless I am sending packages, she is the "only game in town" so to speak. why

about the amendment thing--our St. Louis news said they were considering tuesday--it is not that I mind so much but I too worry about getting/sending bills...

I've always heard that and I do keep the magazines. I'm not paying the bill.

I don't see how businesses can operate without the mail. Mail order businesses especially. I don't think everything has gone to online yet and then how will the orders get sent out?

Didn't the post office used to have a motto through wind, rain, sleet, hail, snow or something like that? Ours doesn't run in sleet, hail or snow and I imagine if it was raining too hard it wouldn't then either.

Yeah, well most of my life, at least up until my early thirties, I would receive mail that just had my name and city on it and I lived out in the middle of no where. Now I can't receive my mail with the correct full address and a map on it much less through rain, sleet, hail or snow. A quarter of the time I get someone elses' mail.

My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.

Our PO delivers mail unless it is blizzarding. I suppose they are just more used to it here or whatever. I guess it all depends on where you live. I guess it wouldn't bother me if they dropped a day of mail. It would be one less day for me to go the mail box and find bills!!

I get my mail delived very effeciently, in every type of weather--everyone is very helpful as well. (when I could not get about & such my post man would even bring in the stuff I could not carry)---But I would be truely upset if we lost a day of delivery.

As far as using the internet, I prefer "hard copy" for so many things.---it sometimes is your only kind of "proof". why

My husband uses the mail a lot, ordering special parts and receiving checks. A day a week will take some getting used too for a lot of businesses I guess. I never check the mail so it won't bother me UNLESS of course I'm expecting a pack of seeds from one of you.

Well I wouldn't miss one day less of mail, so all my bill paying on line and thru the credit union bill pay service.. if I need a hard copy I print it out- never had a problem with that as proof- you get confirmation emails and I print those out too... I get most of my bills on line too.. less paperwork headaches for me...

I know the world is changing but I just don't see how the post office will be able to do it. Businesses will have a fit I'm sure. And companies that send out credit statements. Good grief.

I just had a notion-----

do you think that perhaps they have no intention of reducing service, but are trying to line themselves up for some "federal money"???--a bail out as it were, for what is already federal?????

No, I don't think so. The USPS is the third largest employer in the US, (just after Walmart) and they run the biggest fleet in the world. The employees have the best benefit package going. The gas at over $4 last year really hurt them. They are already largely federally funded. They are certainly not self-supporting like was hoped when they were removed from being a presidential cabinet post in 1970 and went semi-private. But they are more efficient than they were before.
No I'm thinking like the rest of the nation and a lot of the world companies, they are needing to re-organize to live up to today's economy in general. A lot of cities in out state and the state itself is asking employees to take an unpaid day off once a week or twice a month or something similar.
Times are tough for everyone.

nono

Something doesnt jive in the mail situation.

We do know there is less mail to deliver, look how many of us use the computer.
Saving postage......
There are millions of others who do it also.
They have less mail to deliver..I think cuttin out a day or 2 of delivery is the best medicine.......
Save gas, The price of stamps goes up in May I think.Again.

They live well on their incomes and retirement.. Every government job does..

Doesnt add up in my book......

Its always democrats against republicans or vice versa..

Politic in the raw .

I think the powers that be are worried about their profit margins.

And on top of that, they pay well, they have good retirement (most places do not any longer) and they do not work nights or on Sunday.----so why not only work 5 days a week and have all of that????
