It's a cold night, everybody, so I yanked open the doors of this CH and slammed it in right alongside the last one. So you haven't far to go in this yuccky weather! Just make a mad dash for it, and you'll see the bar is all polished to a fine shine, the lights are low, the fireplace is blazing and there is plenty for all.

Pull up a seat...

thanks for the new C.H. merme.
I bet you were a bit scared driving where the road 'might' be.

we had a pleasant day weather wise here. too bad I stayed in and slept it away. it's probably a good thing I got a bit sick today. I think my body really needed the rest.

yes, I"m glad my son has a sleep over guest tonight. he has such wonderful taste in friends! they are all SO polite, and funny, and wholesome.
speaking of wholesome...guess who's NOT wholesome and coming for a visit tomorrow??? the dreaded b.i.l. and his urchins! but, we are getting smarter. we worked it out so we will be leaving (thus they will have to go home) after they are here for about 3 hours. they have a tendency to stay 8-10 hours at a time, and they are not the most plesant folks to be around. 3 hours is doable though.

See y'all later.

it's too cold for me to fish right now. My dad has been wanting to take me fishing on the boat but I'm not a fisherman who loves to sit out on the water and freeze. Done that. Didn't like it.

hello, enrique!
I think it will be another couple of weeks before the fishing will be good around here. I'm not sure though. I need to look it up. I'm itching to fish as much as I'm itching to get my hands in some soil!
we have to get fishing licenses too.

Can't you give the kids a time to put themselves to bed (or no more sleepovers)?
And get some rest yourself, Cricket.

Oh, I need the rest tina!
there was never a need for a specific time to put themselves to bed before. that four o'clock in the morning thing was the first time they'd ever done that. but, good idea! they are lifting weights now while listening to music. I think I will give them a time to get in bed and turn in myself before too long.
what's on your agenda tonight, tina?

It is not yet 9 pm my time but I am drooping. So I think I am going to bed. I'm whomped, stomped and computer-fry-brained.
Good night all.

Good morning everyone *Merme speaks softly so as not to startle the still sleepyheaded*

I made some good coffee which will be perfect when you are ready. There is also hot chocolate, tea, and icy cold mango juice if anyone is interested.

I haven't gotten around to baking, so you'll have to poke Nana's11 to see what kind of yummy stash she has on hand. lol

It is very overcast here so I do believe we are in for some weather. It it is a perfect day for chili! So, after breakfast Maxi & I will start rattling the pots and pans.

I'm thinking of Belinda today without power. I hope they are making out okay w/ the generator.

I need some encouragement. I am feeling guilty. I worked this week just like a lot of people. I have a terible cough. A man is here working on the walls in Johnny's bedroom and Johnny isn't here to supervise. Shelley called me at 8:30 this morning asking me to babysit and I told her no. Now I feel guilty. Her husband, who is a nice guy, goes hunting every Saturday so he's never available to take care of his children. Shelley is a stay at home mom so I think she should be able to do most of her stuff during the week, which she doesn't. She does have a 1 year old to drag everywhere she goes I guess. But I do feel guilty.

the guilt will pass, sheri. I'm with you. I would have told her no also.
when I was a stay home mom. I did all my errands and chores during the week while the kids were in school. when the kids got home from school they had all my attention for them to tell me about their day and for me to help with homework. when hubby got home he had all my attention and we were able to have conversations without 'hold on, I gotta load the dishwasher'. same thing for the weekends. all my chores were done so I could laze around with the fam.

I have some salami sizzling in the pan now. the eggs and toast will be ready soon. It should go nicely with the wonderful coffee merme has made.

I have my fingers crossed that we have dodged the inlaws for today! We talked to them yesterday afternoon and told them they could come around 10 in the morning because we already have plans and were leaving around 2pm. that way, short visit! my nephew just called (at 11:30am)asking about some master link. I'm assuming they were planning on bringing the go cart out here today. I told him I wasn't sure if we had an extra and that I thought yall were coming this morning? he says 'we got held up but are still planning on coming'. I reminded him that we would all be leaving around 2. he sounded a bit huffy and got off the phone real quick. it's an hour drive for them so HOPEFULLY they won't bother.
they just tick me off to no end! not only do they invite themselves over, but expect us to drop everything to entertain them for 8-10 hours. who in their right mind would think that is acceptable behavior!!???!!

Jiffy, I'm glad your feeling a bit better. I hate that you have to get out and do shopping when your not up to it. kissie

well, the 'others' are here! I guess they thought it was worth the hour drive to spend just one hour here. Or maybe they figure they will just use our property to drive the go-cart on while we are NOT here. after all we are family and we're obligated to cater to them! rolz uhuhh

Oh Miss Jiffy I do not envy you the necessity of having to go grocery shopping! I wouldn't wanna either!

I just spoke to the landlord about this plumbing problem. He was supposed to be here either late afternoon Thursday OR Friday morning at 9. He never showed up.

So... the landlord told me that because it is the weekend, the plumber has gone 6 hours away & won't be on duty til Monday!

I'm pretty frosted.

Holy Cow, merme! I remember you telling about your plumbing problem, but can't recall what exactly had broken...dishwasher?
you have had one heck of a week!

the 'disrespectfuls' have just now unloaded the go-cart (1:00) we are leaving in 45 minutes! all the kids will be upset. 45 min is not long enough to enjoy a go-cart. my b.i.l. makes me crazy angry!
I get mad at myself for getting so mad! life is too short to stew over such things. but, I"m a stewing!

Yes. I ran the dishwasher on Thursday and a ton of water came pouring out from under the sink!!!

Cricket you may have to put your foot down with these inconsiderate family members. Family is family but that doesn't give carte blanche to do whatever they want! After all, it is YOUR home.

I went out on the porch a few minutes ago to socialize with the beloved family. my b.i.l. mentioned he had steaks and potatoes in his cooler...'whatever I wanted to cook'. I told him AGAIN we are leaving in 30 minutes, and I"m not cooking anything. he just doesn't listen! hubby is out there entertaining him now. I may leave for my walmart trip and just never come back. I"m not getting alot of support with the putting the foot down thing. hubby is riding both sides of the fence...neither side really. just sitting stairing off into space, pretending to listen to the constant babble coming from his brothers mouth.
