I know corn plants are supposed to be easy. And I am generally pretty good with plants. But I have the same problem with them time and time again. They start out looking nice, but over time, the leaves become paper thin and withered. The plant just looks anemic. I've even had them flower, but yet they still maintain this very withered look.

So last summer I bought a huge one, determined to get it right this time. It looked fantastic for many months, but just in the past month has begun to show the old signs I am so familiar with. The leaves are no longer thick and springy. Some are turning yellow and brown. I am worried and upset.

Here is some more info on the plant's care. It is directly in front of a window in a room that gets plenty of sunlight (north and east exposure). I have it potted in a very high quality soil that drains very well. I use a wooden dowel to check the moisture, and water when the plant starts to dry.

Please help. I don't want to lose this plant. I want to restore it to its original vigor and good health.

I have pictures that I could post if that will help. I haven't checked to see if one can upload pics for viewing on this site yet, however...

first, yes, you can upload photos here, you'll need to use photobucket or another photoshare service.
The corn plant will not tolerate constnt moisture over a long period. Let the surface dry completely until it's almost dusty before you water and I think you'll see it's happier. The bloom you had on one could actually have been a sign of stress rather than happiness. Good drainage is key, you're correct, but tropical plants endure drought part of the year, and must dry out between waterings, beyond what you're already letiing it.
