Most of you know that Diane got a new camera recently and has been practicing with it and sharing photos. What y'all don't know is that she has also been planning to give her previous camera to me!
And, it arrived in today's mail!
It is a beautiful Fuji.
Also in the box was a DVD The Spiderwick Chronicles.
While we were waiting for her to get her new camera she sent me a link to a site so I could read all about it and learn some things ahead of time. She also wrote out good information for me in a PM that I can refer to as needed.
So tomorrow morning first thing I am going to get started! She has it all set up so all I have to do is use it til I learn more. This is going to be fun!
And now I'll finally be able to post pictures here. YAY!
Thank you so much, Diane! This whole adventure is awesome!
And I really like your New Year's Resolution to give away useful items you no longer need to people who can use them!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Diane is one of the most generous people I know - what a wonderful thing to do for Merme and Maxi. I can't wait to see some pictures now of all the things we've been reading about at their place - Merme's yarn creations, their birds, Maxi's creations, MAXI! Soooooooo many photo opportunities - start clickin' your finger Merme!
I love looking at the galleries on here, and seeing the pix on the random posts! Glad there is one more person here excited about posting some more! And a new camera? What an amazing gift! I would be soooo thrilled!!

What a lucky blessing for me you were successful this time, Diane!
Tomorrow Maxi is going to get under the desk to plug in the camera cord while I read more of the book.
I wish there was a way to take a picture of the camera itself so I could show you all how handsome it is!
Thank you again and again Diane.

well,, you have a mirror don't you?? just point and shoot in the mirror and there you have it! you can stand to the side so you don't have to be seen in the mirror if you don't want to be in the picture

Are any of you surprised by this? Yes Diane is truly one of the most generous and thoughtful people you will ever meet. If your around her much that tends to rub off on you to some degree. I will also add my thank you Diane for giving this wonderful gift to Merme. You truly are an ANGEL

We just took our first four photos. I did two of some pillows I made so I can show them to you all. I'm not really sure what Maxi aimed at, but he did take a turn also. He plugged in the cable while I read the book. Now I have to call Diane for further clarification so I can get the pictures out of the camera.
My kid is pretty smart and not at all afraid of electronic equipment in the way that I am. I couldn't get the camera turned on and opened properly so I handed it to him and he did it right on the first try! Then showed me how.
I'm always afraid of hitting the wrong button and blowing something up!

but I learned how to download photos out of the camera into my Adobe Photoshop. Now I just can't remember how to get it out of the photoshop and into Photobucket!
And for some reason, the photos I have taken of the crochet pillow didn't take. The one I did of the sewn pillow is fine. And the two Maxi took are fine also. By the way, he took one of himself to show how badly he needs a haircut and one of my messy desk!
Be back soon after I figure more stuff out!

Merme you can right click on the picture in Photoshop and save it to or move it to a new Folder in documents or your Picture file,,
remember when you take the picture if you see !AF in the viewer you're either too close or too far from the object,, it took a while for me to look for that then the pictures started coming out ok

Okay... first picture. This is the small pillow I sewed by hand the other day.

And this is Maxi's very blurry Self-Portrait of His Shagginess!

Not bad for a self photo,, Awwwww His hair isn't too long. Oh,,, If he wants to do it again push the button to the flower(Left) and it will give a clearer self picture  or tell him to grow his arms longer,, real quick! but don't forget to push the button back or everything else will be blurry,, if it's more than 2 feet away, dang Merme how long did it take you to sew the pillow by hand?? Good Job,, ,

Yes, Jiffy, he was parading around in his snuggly!
Diane, I actually sewed two pillows like that in one evening. The other one went inside of the crocheted pillow cover I made for Maxi's red pillow collection. I have taken two pictures of the red pillow but for some reason they are not showing up, so I will try again! That is the pillow I really want you to see.
When Maxi's hair gets down in his eyes like that he really can't see because it is so impossibly thick! Unlike his Mama who has very thin hair now.
Diane as it turned out, you were right: I didn't need to download that disc.

This is the red square pillow I crocheted for Maxi. He has the star and the round one at his dad's. I will ask him to bring them home next week.

This is Maxi's second self-portrait following the directions Diane gave him if he didn't want to try to suddenly grow his arms longer!
This is a picture he took of our birds. The Blue one is Buttons and the Yellow one is Ties.

When Diane first called me soon after the first of the year to tell me what she was thinking of doing, it blew my socks off. We were thrilled to pieces, of course, and it was really hard to keep her secret for so long! I wanted to blab the good news right away!
I am particularly excited because ever since I've been a member here, I've read all kinds of funny & nice threads w/ y'all taking pictures to show. Remember the time a bunch of folks took pictures of their messy desks? and our spice racks? I've never been able to show mine and I've always wanted to! And also to finally be able to show Maxi's garden come summer. YAY! Now I feel as though I can really participate!

I'll get some photos together of some items soon, Sheri. That is, what I haven't already given away! But I do have a few things around. Besides, I'm always sewing something.

Diane also sent me a small crochet hook so I can do lace work with fine yarn. I have the skinny steel hooks for lacing with thread, but nothing to use with the thinnest yarns. So now I will make something with that hook and show it off!

can't wait to see the sewing projects!!!!

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain!! .....
Maxi was sitting at my desk reading a book on-line. I was in the kitchen cooking supper and looked in at him. I looked a couple of times because I could NOT figure out how he was sitting facing the pc and having his leg turned out like that at the same time? Then I looked again and suddenly realized I had left my prosthetic leg by the desk and he was actually just sitting beside it but the way his snuggli covered the top I couldn't tell the first couple of times I glanced his way....
So here is Maxi in his snuggli with the hood up as he likes best to wear it and mom's fake leg parked nearby. (I wasn't expecting to see it there because normally I leave it in the kitchen by the table... we call it my "table leg" )
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Merme, the table leg is hilarious! So glad to see that you have a good humor about it. My father had a prosthetic leg from about his knee down also and he would joke about it. Some of his friends would be put off and ask him how he could make light of his leg and he would tell them " Well, I am not God and I can't re-grow another one. And that leaves only two things I can feel about that. One I can sit and wallow in self pity and whine and cry about it which will only make my life miserable or I can accept it, joke about it and have a good laugh which will make me feel good and happy inside. Now which way would you want to spend your life feeling"? I just really loved my fathers way of looking at things and life and learned so much from him and that was just one more thing that I learned from him. We need to except the things that we can't do anything about and if we do and we except it with a bit of humor it will make it all the more bearable. And I am so looking forward to seeing some of the things that you have made!
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.
