At first I just thought this Pine Siskin was incredibly tame, but later I decided it was under the weather. Either ill, or perhaps it had flown into a window or had been snagged by a cat. It allowed me to approach incredibly close as you can see.

This pic was taken from about 4 feet away!

Here he's chirping at me.

I had to go to work, so I couldn't keep an eye on it. I've seen no Pine Siskins acting oddly since. I checked the yard the next morning before I let my cats out in case the bird had been sick and died. I think it hit a window and was stunned.

On Sundy at my mom's, there was a Goldfinch that was stuck behind some deer netting she had around one of her planting beds. I helped it get out and after it flew to the feeder was then able to approach within 2 feet of it, it was so exhausted.

I saw it again just now. I got within about 2 feet of it. It seemed at first like it was flying a bit weakly, but then when I got too close, it flew off 150 feet or so. I think maybe it's feeling better.

Actually, Thorny, I don't think I've ever seen a boreal forest on Tatooine.
