it does look pretty, but BRRRRRR! we got a bit of a storm last night. thunderstorm and tornado watches. it must have gotten pretty windy because the basketball goal fell over on hubby's truck. luckily there was no major damage.

The lights were off at school when I took Ashley to school this morning, they said they were about ready to turn them on

Morning , I agree that looks really cold... we got a dusting of snow last night- just an inch or so so it's melting already but more is coming our way they said.... Got up early today and looked out windows for my paper - always in driveway or the grass next to it- no paper-- hubby went out and looked and when he looked back at house it was by the front door... very suprising --- they never porch it-- maybe we have a new paper person.... if it keeps up I will tip them... Hubby spent an hour or so yesterday picking up all the blown over and scattered stuff in the yard yesterday- had a lot of branches downed too - will be so glad when I can afford to get that tree out of there-- will miss the shade but won't miss the mess from every time the wind blows.... hopefully this spring it will come down. We are going to do some running around today... need to find some new shoes for myself.. and some odds and ends of stuff ... Joe said he would watch kids and Mom so I am taking advantage of getting out of the house.. Nana

I just came in. There is a heavy cold mist that is supposed to turn to rain tonight. I hope it doesn't freeze as well.

I am trying to think of something easy for my girl to cook for dinner on Friday night. I have chicken breasts & hamburger in the freezer but I'm deadheaded on the topic. Any suggestions?

well if you like soup there is the hamburger soup I have a recipe for---and then ther is Sloppy joes or burgers--that way you could just have wahtever veggie there might be with that. I also have a slow cooker recipe for a chicken noodle soup one just puts meat, veggies & water in the crock pot---then 1 hr before eating time you add the noodles & all is prepared --well unless you might fancy some warm bread????

I would think the chicken breast would be the easiest. those can be thrown in the oven with any kind of seasoning you prefer. just came in from the garden.....my fingernails are dirty, I have 4 ant bites, I saw a butterfly, I screamed at a lizard that was on my water hose.............I DO believe it is looking a lot like spring around here!

Thanks for your ideas, my friends. It all sounds so yummy. I must be hungry! How are you tonight, Carol Jean? Cricket we will see some signs of spring when we get rid of the 2+ feet of snow we have covering it all up! I know the signs of spring are out there somewhere! Merme

I have to get out of my chair for a while & stretch a bit. I may nap. But when I get up I have to switch the cord on my phone that plugs into the jack. I need to take the phone off the wall and put it on the desktop for now.... and being on the desk requires a longer cord to the jack.

Hi again, Back from errand running... was nice to get out- gotta tell a funny- yesterday Joe fixed the footrest on the couch- it reclines... screws had come out of one pad on it-- so he used a rachet and put it back on with Derek and Nicoli's help yesterday- he let them use the rachet... today after we got back Carrrie and I were talking in kitchen not paying attention to boys - thought they were just playing at fixing the couch again- Joe had left tools in living room ... they managed to unscrew 2 of the screws and they fell out... Derek brought them to me and said Papa is going to be mad! Joe came home and just fixed it again... teach him to teach them how to use tools .... LOL! We are going to have chickent tonit so better get it started... Nana

Nana! That is too cute!
I had a nap and when I got up I looked at my cord for the phone. It isn't the right kind for the job! So now I have to wait until tomorrow so my girl can go buy the right kind. Which means my handset won't be getting a charge all night...
I put dinner in the oven and am going to do one load of laundry. Meantine, I am enjoying the iced tea I made.

I'm tired and crampy tonight so I am going to have a cup of warm milk which will help a great deal. My schedule this week has been daunting and I feel as though it should be Friday by now!
Tomorrow I see the back specialist again finally & that will be a BIG help but I hate having to keep pushing so hard to go out again & again every day this week.
The weekend can't come soon enough, particularly since Maxi will be here!

Hi all.
I'm home again after a very tiring outing!
The back doc put SIX injections in my butt (after numbing me first!). I'm sore now but will feel great tomorrow. I did get to the store to get a new phone cord & my girl was able to get the phone all set up for me.
And I decided to treat myself. I bought a chicken salad sub at David's Sandwich Shop. They make the BEST chicken salad in the world & I only buy it a couple times a year. Today was the day! YAY!

I am finally home for good. I did a lot today. Got the kids all set up for their Valentine's parties tomorrow. Ted, besides giving valentines with conversation hearts in them and a sticker, is providing his class with root beer floats. So I bought cups, long soda spoons, fat straws, ice cream and root beer. Got it all delivered to the school today in case tomorrow gets screwy. Jonni is providing stuff for her pre-school teachers class and for her special ed class where she is a teacher's aide. She will work at one of or the other of these this summer as a paid intern. And the school district will be paying for her university education should she choose either of these as a career. She is a totally different person than the awful teen she was a year and a half ago. Silver linings around dark clouds.

Seems like you had a busy day, Tina, but productive! That must feel nice.
Aren't kids amazing? It sounds as though Jonni has found her feet in life. Good for her!
It is queerly warm here today... we reached 40. Everything was melting like crazy with all the rain, too. It got rather humid this afternoon, too.
Everyone is sorta doing a cringe because we know Winter isn't finished with us yet! Not until early April.
I am relieved it is Thursday night and I only have one more tough day left to this long week. YAY!
Nana ~ I'm really curious as to whether or not you went shopping & if you did, how you made out on the sales!

sounds like you didn't even want to be teased by the warmer weather, merme? that makes me sad, but I guess it's better not to get excited too early. tina, Ted will feel like the king of the world with the floats he is providing tomorrow. and good deal with jonni, she sounds like she might have already found her nitch. anyone know anything about tennis elbow? I seem to have it. I googled it up and it said it could hurt for weeks or years. oh boy! should I even try resting it and icing it if its gonna hurt that long anyway? I'm making some chili tonight for supper, and I'm off work tomorrow. I plan on working in the garden some more....getting it ready for spring.

Tennis elbow is tendonitis. "Itis" means 'inflammation of' so anything you can do to reduce the inflammation is good. It can actually get worse if you don't rest it and things. Anti-inflammatory drugs help too.

Well off to go fix mom's dinner... and then I may hit the bathtub- achy tonit and can't get warm..\ Nana

You made out well with your sales, Nana! Good for you!
Cricket please do whatever you can to take care of that elbow. You really do not want to develop lifelong troubles with it and it has already been sore for quite some weeks now, right? I'd see a doc about it to have it professionally assessed.
Well I'm off for tonight. I need to rest my aching fanny. Those shots help but the first day is something else!

I guess I will keep putting the ice on. and the ice does feels SO goood too. after the ice pack comes off I can move my arm and hand all over the place with no pain! I should start taking the advil or ibuprophin now and then too. so, nana...was that just grocery shoping you did today and saved all that money? 208 for two weeks worth of food?

Cricket, I don't just shop for the two weeks- I buy the stuff on sale I have coupons for... they had hunts catsup on sale 10/$10. we go thru a lot of catsup with all the kids - big bottles so I used my coupons I had and got 5 bottles for 3.50... chicken was on sale for 98cnts a pound for legs and thighs- I will make at least 6 meals out of them for us so at least a months worth of chicken meals...I got bread for french toast on sale for 1.00 a loaf too- 4 loaves will make enough for a lot of breakfasts for the boys... I get a lot of froz dinners for my Mom too- she doesn't have teeth so I have to find food easy for her to eat... and it's easier for me not to have to cook everything special for her, I use a lot of coupons on those things and my store gives me more when I buy them... I also take my own bags to the store and they give me credit for each one I use- 5 cents a bag and usually use at last 5 so every quarter helps.. I come home and the money I save shopping I transfer into our vacation acct... we want to go to AZ in June to see my MIL- she is 92 yrs old and we won't have her a whole lot longer so right now thats important--- all adds up. Those are some good deals, Nana. I also don't shop for just a determinate time period. If it is a good sale it can go into the freezer for next month or later. I am wishing I bought more of those pork roasts today and will probably go back tomorrow for a couple more.
