Awwww, it's ok Loz,there are other tries. Take a break from the quitting and try again when you feel up to it. It's a struggle, I know, I'm still smoking too.
uh, loz? did you know that everytime you try, you increase your chance of success? something like if you have a 5% chance on your first try, it is 10% on the second, and 20% on the third and so on. so, you did good! and i'm proud of you for trying now, all you have to do is decide to try again
You did great, Miss loz! I am so proud of you! You did several good days this time... who knows how long you'll make it next time?!
Every cigarette you didn't smoke is for the good. Even skipping a couple a day or not smoking one morning or afternoon counts as a "mini quit".

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Loz, I have been there, done that. More times than I care to count. You haven't let ANYONE down! Next time you will make it one more day than this time, quite possibly more. And if you slip up, you'll make it even longer the next time. You haven't failed, you've only had a slight set-back. You can start quitting again tomorrow if you are so inclined. You did a great job with this attempt, and we'll be here for you on the next one.

Loz, I like the way Miss Jiffy thinks, and I agree with her whole-heartedly....all you have to do it decide to try again. One day it will work, I have faith.

Loz - I agree with everyone here - you gave it your best attempt this time, and it must be extremely difficult when most of the people you are close to daily smoke.
I still have every faith that you can do it - when you are ready!
Thank you all. I was so upset with myself and felt so guilty when I smoked again. Mark was trying to quit too, he made it a full 24 hours. Which is VERY hard if you are a smoker. Well last night he put his shoes on/took them off 3 times before he decided to drive down and get a pack.
He came in the door with one in his mouth. And it was such a hard day for me the 6th day. Harder than the others had been. All I thought about that day was smoking. It's not really his fault though. All day I'd been saying to him, I want a cig--don't you. So it's really my fault.
I'm glad that I at least made it a week without smoking, minus one day. That was my requirement after the tooth extraction.
I saw a neat site today. If you google "smoking everywhere" you will see this electronic cig that charges and you put cartridges in it right? Well you don't light it....you puff it and it activates and the end lights up and it really has nicotine in it. Minus the cancerous additives. And no smoke. It looks like it smokes but it's a water vapor. It was like $150 though. Plus you could get all different flavor cartridges for it. Chocolate, cherry, etc....Nicotine ones in different levels of strength. Interesting concept. And it said each cartridge lasted about 20 normal cigs....You get 5 of them for 9.99....so that would be like 100 cigs. Much cheaper than buying the packs.
Anyway....what can I say? I tried--and I'm sure one day we'll try again. Cigs aren't really a friend, but when you quit it's LIKE losing a friend. I think the psychological part of it is WAY harder than the nicotine withdrawal. That really didn't bother me too bad.
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry I haven't been around much. I was trying to not be on the computer much because I tend to smoke more online. But I guess now I'm back.
A friend of mine told me about those smokeless cigs on Christmas. Her sister had just bought them to try. She was going to find out how they did for her sister before she bought them. I am waiting to hear the results myself. I saw them in a kiosk in a mall here since then. Before I invest that much I want to know how they did for people who have tried so many other things and not succeeded. These friends have tried it all including prescription drugs. I am a chicken. A smoked chicken.

I want to try the shot. The only problem is it costs around $400 and insurance doens't cover it yet. With a shot you can't "forget" to take it, and this thing is supposed to last a full month if I remember right. If I could ever make it a full month, I think I would have it beat. The longest I've ever gone is 2 weeks.
It wasn't a shot I was talking about. It is a prescription pill called Chantix or something very similar. But the reports on that is that it doesn't work most of the time. And there are reports of depression which none of us need as well as other side effects. Not something for me, I don't think.

I took Chantix. The only problem I had with it is that combined with my BP meds, I was a zombie! I couldn't stay awake for more than 5 minutes at a time!
The shot...I'm not sure I remember who was advertising it, but there was someplace in Atlanta where you could get it. I had the phone number on one of my old cell phones (which I still have but the battery is dead in it, so I can't look it up at the moment). I had gotten the number off the local radio station. I called and they gave me the info on it, but like I said, insurance doesn't cover it yet, so there was no way I could afford it. Supposedly it's supposed to make you quit smoking without ANY of the withdrawl issues. I wish I could remember more of the info, but it's been a couple of years ago...

My mother quits periodically. One time she hadn't smoked for 6 months---she then got the flu and said that made her too weak not to smoke---I have to ask, after 6 months???? But oh well, I do not really know as I have never smoked, so who am I to say anything---
there is 3 of us kids---we none of us smoke, and both out parents did.

I honestly think that there should be rehab for smokers. Since it's as addictive as heroin....then why not rehab for us? I'm serious.
My mom quit once for 9 months and then started again on my Wedding day at my reception. I caught her outside with the smokers. My sister quit for 6 months once, then the stress of her ex getting cancer took her back to smoking. My brother quits on and off over the years. Right now he's trying to quit again and is down to 1-2 cigs a day.
It's VERY hard. I wish when I was younger I didn't want to fit in so bad.
