Yesterday Maxi & I were playing a geography card game called The Scrambled States and were having a good time. But Maxi does tend to get excited when he is trying to win and we were laughing quite a bit.

Then we got to a challenge that was "spell a three letter word from the letters of a state capital."

Before I could even look at my hand and see what capitals I had down, Maxi slapped the table and said "I can spell 'any' from Ala-bane-ey."

I THOUGHT he was trying to say "ALABAMA" and so I said "Maxi, there is no Y in Alabama! And Alabama is a state, not a capital."

He said "No, Mom! The Y is in ALA-BANE=EY New York!"

Then I caught it! He was trying to pronounce Albany!

haha

ALA-BANE-EY?" omg I lauhed so hard.

PS My kid won by the way... 35 to 22....

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

ALA-BANE-EY! That is TOO cute! I can just imagine the laughter.

I had to laugh at my son the other day when he was showing me his contact list in his cell phone. grandmal home and gradmal cell.
So weird with the 'L' at the end of the word. my daughter used to spell saw as sawl.

That is adorable, Cricket!

Maxi has speech delay difficulties and when he speaks people think he is far younger than he is. But he has a fascinating turn of phrase so he gets the listener's attention. He is enormously quotable... and witty.

I love to hear him laugh.

Too cute!

My oldest was born on Easter Sunday, and so wound up with the nickname "Bunny". When she was in pre-K (4 yo), her dad accidently took her to school too early and left her there, not realizing that there wasn't anyone in the building. Well, the secretary was the first to arrive (as hubby was pulling out, to be exact) and saw her sitting outside crying. So she asks here what was wrong, and Bunny tells her. The woman asked her what her name was, and she answers with, "Bunny". So then the woman asks her what her last name is. My daughter's reply?

"Rabbit"!!!

I love to tell that story! Of course it mortifies her now that she's almost 16! LOL

good to know she wasn't left alone for a long time.

Annette I thought I had already posted about your Bunny. I liked the story so much I retold it to my attendant today. She also thought it was adorable!

It's my favorite story about her!

My favorite one for Allie, my 7 yo, is about the eggplants. When I asked her how she wanted me to cook them when they were ready, she told me, "scrambled!" I guess she thinks that they grow actual eggs! LOL

Teeny, my 9 yo, was about 4 when she did something that required a "popping". So I popped her on the rear, and sent her to her room. She got to the door, turned back with the most defiant face I have ever seen on a 4 yo, and said, "Well I ain't cryin'!" Needless to say...she was when I got done with her! LOL It was just so funny...the look on her face and the way she said it! Hubby laughed the whole time.

when my youngest was 3 years old this happened. I had just finished scolding her sister (whom she idolized, and still does) she came up to me and asked permission to go see her sis-tOr (how she said it) upon returning downstairs she said to me--you be nice to my sistOr, & if you don't I will tie you up and throw you away. She then told her sister that she was her best friend.

I have a book full of things like this---for them both----

Annette in our home the rule has always been that parental authority is by voice & not by physical size.... you can MAKE a 2 yr old mind by picking him up but what will you do when he is 16?

So, Maxi knew from a young age that he best had mind me when I spoke to him & heaven help him if I had to Stand Up to come toward him.

One day when he was about 4 he was carrying on & I spoke to him several times and he didn't pay any attention.

So I stood up.

He turned and saw me over his shoulder. He grabbed his little butt and ran out of the room yelling "Dear Jesus Lord! Her gonna kill me now!"

haha

I laughed so hard I sat back down.
