My sister Glenda (jayhawk) was in Mobile, AL recently, While there she visited the Mardi Gras Museum. She found out the Mardi Gras had originally started in Mobile. Wow I didn't know that did you?? She said she couldn't resist buying me these Ultimate purple gloves at the gift shop,, These fancy purple gloves will only be used on Special Occasions Thanks Glenda for bringing laughter to my day

You are very welcome Diane, I just couldn't pass by the Ultimate Purple Gloves without getting them. Don't forget that when you wear them, those little bells will jingle! So no sneaking up on anyone!

Mobile has it's own Mardi Gras although it's not as wild as New Orleans. It started in Mobile in 1703 as a New Years Eve celebration. I have several pictures of the trains the King and Queen wore in various years as well as some of the Queen's gowns and King's "suits". Does anyone want to see them? The trains take over 9 months to make so the 2009 King and Queen were chosen in early 2008. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. by Herm Albright

Yes, Mardi Gras did originate in Mobile, Ala and their Mardi Gras is a pretty big affair as well as Pensacola, Florida and Biloxi, Mississippi. The only reason New Orleans became a better known site for the Mardi Gras is their debauchery and lax laws on under aged drinking and. In fact I grew up 60 miles from Mobile and until about '66 or '67 they even let us out of school for Mardi Gras. Our High School bands us to always march in the parades until there was an incident of some drunks trying to touch and mishandle some of our majorettes so they stopped closing our schools to go celebrate in Mobile and Mobile does try to keep it a shade or two cleaner. You will get arrested for showing your breast if caught and for the most part places that sell liquor try to always check I.D.s. And I have never seen people having carnal relations in front of sliding glass doors in Mobile or Pensacola but have a couple of times in New Orleans. Pensacola, Fl. has some great Mardi Gras celebrations both in the town and out on the beaches. You can Google photos of Mardi Gras in Pensacola, Fl., Mobile, Al., Biloxi, Ms., and just about any towns along the Gulf coast and see some great pictures. And by the way I am Nuts about the purple gloves! Purple is my color. In fact I will have to get a picture of my purple jacket with "The Purple Squirrel" on the back and put up here.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.

OMG! Those are AWESOME! They certainly look like they would be a lot softer and gentler than the regular rubber purple gloves.
ROFLMAO!
