I got this sweet little Orchid today. It is called a Burana Jade. I have never ever had much luck with Orchids but I will give it another go. I really like this little thing so I hope that it will like me also and together we can get it to keep growing. Does anyone know the best place for me to go and learn all the best info on this little jewel?
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.

That looks like a phalaenopsis type dendrobium to me. Dendrobium comes from dendros meaning tree in greek. They are epiphytic orchids (meaning they grow on trees) and they should be potted in an airy orchid mixture containing bark for excellent drainage. Like most epiphytic orchids, they need to have EXCELLENT DRAINAGE and they should not be in constantly wet medium. They don't have pseudobulbs to store water so they should never be left to dry out completely (when leaves start wrinkling it means it's been dry too long). The night temps should be a bit lower if possible. Some types are evergreen and some are decidious - I do'nt know what type you have. The decidious types need a dormancy and will loose all they leaves; they bloom at the nodes (where one stem segment meets another stem segment). Dens need sun, but not direct strong sun. Morning sun and/or late afternoon sun is best (avoid sun at around 11am-3pm)

I got it at Home Dept. and it had a little spike thing in it that did day that it was a Dendrobium/ Burana Jade. The window that I have them right now they do not get full sun light. There is a carport there and it gets indirect sunlight all day. Is that good or bad? Should I actually water the plant or mist it well? Do I need to feed it Orchid food? Would it do best if I actually planted it in a hollowed out tree limb? It is sort of pale pale or whitish green color with lavender in the center. My flash didn't go off for some reason and the picture wasn't very good.

I recieved one just like it for my birtday. I have it under my patio. I put up a 48inch light with grow bulb. The light is on a timer. The orchid and my african voilets are doing great. I feed it a little orchid food(a couple of granules) with each watering. It didn't cost much and the result was worth it.
