why are you closing this time of year? I'm confused.
sheri, we are on 10 week "quarters" with breaks in between. so, yesterday was the end of the quarter and today was the day that the students who were not staying for spring quarter had to leave. if they are enrolled in winter and spring both, they can stay, because the break is only 10 days long. otherwise, they have to leave and we "close" the dorms.
they don't actually close this time, but i have to process them as if they do. check out paperwork, damage billing, etc.
Jiff, you've been under the weather for a while. I haven't been on here much lately, but that much I do know.
Is Ms. Merme still resting?
cricket thank you for noticing. today, the worst is because the high today was the low for wed. night. and rain is coming in. i just don't do well heath wise with weather changes. rheumatoid arthritis does that
at what school do your work. I can't remember. I dont have RA but when the weather changes I feel like 1000 pounds is sitting on my head pushing out through my sinuses.
sheri, i work at the savannah college of art and design aka scad. scad dot edu if you are interested. they have a picture of the building i work in on the website. it's called oglethorpe house.
I remember at my old job one day I was on the phone with someone in Indianapolis. we were trying to work through some issue. all of a sudden she says, 'oh my, it's 3 o'clock already! I gotta go!' our issue was only half way worked through so I was very confused. she briefly and frantically explained it was racing weekend and she had to leave work RIGHT THEN or she'd never get out! ha ha. I suddenly understood that our issue could wait till monday morning. I find it so interesting the different events and cultures that occur from place to place.

Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it. ~Russel Baker
when i lived in california (silicon valley) every single plant had different hours to lessen the rush hour. which meant that instead of traffic jams from 7-9 and 4-6, we had them all day
several years ago when Rita came through. I was at work and on the phone with someone in Detroit. someone walked by and handed me a couple of large trash bags and said 'once you wrap your computer, and any important files, you can go home'. ha ha. I'm sure that person at the other end of the line was just as perplexed at my 'I gotta go', as I was with the indianapolis 500 lady.

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain!! .....
I rested, but not enough. And now that I've read up on all you guys, I'm too tired to really post.
Your Fencer suits you, Cricket.
I like the name Mr. Bill picked for me 'coz he recognizes what a psuedo-snob I am!
Alright, alright, I know I can be a priss.
Don't mean any harm by it, though.
Safe away home, O my palies, and sweet dreams to you all.

I don't, merm. I always thought of your nickname as recognizing your culture and swav-a-fare. (did I spell 'swav-a-fare' like a goffy redneck?.....actually it's flare and not fare, right?) I don't know. I'm too tired.
I'm gonna safe away myself on outta here. later guys!

That is a great word for Merme, savoir faire. (The ability to do or say what is appropriate for the occasion.) Good night Cricket. I think I'm going to bed also.

Cricket you really amuse me. I'm glad you were able to safe away yourself on outta here.
And thanks, Tina, for the spelling lesson! Sleepyheaded Cricket was quite bold in her masterful attempts but I think she got lost somewhere between A and W! It doesn't do one any good to try a spelling road trip when weary!
I went to bed and slept very restlessly for about an hour and woke up achey. So I took some Tylenol and made some Red rose Tea and hopefully will do better when I go back to bed later.
I put a poem up in the Home For The Holidays section.

I haven't got my fishing license yet.I keep telling my dad to buy me one, but he won't.He always says that he has "no money" even when he has money and all the bills have been paid.I guess I'll tell my mom to buy me one.

If you had changed my name, Afgrey, I would NOT have noticed for centuries!
Phew! I'm glad you didn't do it!
Did the coffee I cyber-trotted over to you wake you up any?

I had to look it up, Merme. I got close but added an extra 'e' on the tail of savoir. Good morning. It is Saturday and I got to sleep in. John has company coming over today to help him with a couple of projects. The kids and I are going out to run some errands and do a little car shopping. But no time tables to go by. That is good.

Heck with stopping at rolling the clock back just a day! Let's take it back to 1/1/09... I don't know where this year has fled!

To heck with THAT! If we are gonna roll the clock back I'm going back several YEARS!
I guess older women -- or should I say "mature ladies"? -- do need to be aware of the passing of the years.

When I grow up I want to be an old woman in a garden doing whatever the heck I want!
Gimme a hat and a garden and I'm good to go!

I'm glad I could amuse everyone last night with my brutal atempt to spell a foreign word while half asleep! I was cracking myself up too. were having a lazy day around here. it's still cold and rainy. I went out for about half an hour and poked around the garden, then came right back in. there is just nothing fun to do indoors. (well at least not while the kids are around)

I stayed up for several hours last night doing homework.I fell asleep for a few hours but I'm not tired. I will finish my homework today which means I'll have nothing to do tomorrow.
I laid down on the couch for a while to read. I fell asleep! My coffee got cold while I was sleeping. Must be time to make fresh.
