Generally it means our mistakes return to haunt us in life.

But as early as the mid-1700's, it was a metaphor for a Prodigal person... the bad one who keeps coming back.

"bad" referred to a penny that hadn't been minted properly. So when someone would look for a penny they really needed, they'd like as not only found the one that couldn't be used. Back then, Pennies had real buying power.

Afg, that is my favorite brand of Salmon!!! I use to get in delightful wooden boxes that I made into Jewelery/Stationary supply boxes for gifts for my young nieces and nephews.

Oh wow, what a great Birthday present!!!!! I have never seen Billy in concert but I adore his music.
And "Yellow Brick Road" is one of my very favorite Elton songs. In fact it was sort of my theme song back in '73. All my friends would sing it to me when I was down about something and when he appeared in Mobile, Ala. they took me to his concert. I was so enthralled at his show. He really did put on a very entertaining and enjoyable performance.
