This happy, but greedy squirrel visited my feeder this morning.

I have three that come to my feeder daily. This one is friendly and tolerates me well. One is a bit skittish and nervous. The third one is absolutely TERRIFIED of humans and goes crazy when he realizes you are present.

we have several squirrels around our house, the new construction across the street used to be a heavily wooded lot. yesterday we saw a squirrel hanging from our wild bird feeder trying to get at the suinflower seeds...all it succeeded in doing is knocking them on the ground which I guess if your him works---
If they were more troublesome than they are I would get upset, but fortunately there are enough oak trees around to keep them happy for the most part.--and yes I know there are no new nuts for them yet.

Ten years ago when I first moved into this neighbor hood I had differences with the squirrels. They would raid the bird feeders, dig up anything that I sat out in a pot on the porch, re-carve the Jack-O-Lanterns, and eat the decorative corn hung out for Thanksgiving. But after the first 2 years we hit upon a mutual understanding. I put out food for them and they leave my stuff alone ( Well, for the occasional Juvie that hasn't learned all the rules of etiquette around my yard ). It is now the birds that don't quiet get the rules. Now they raid the Squirrel feeders and like yesterday when I threw a pecan to a squirrel a Blue Jay swooped in and grabbed the nut before the squirrel could get to it. But the squirrels are such a delight to watch all their antics that I forgive most anything else.

By the way, Thanks Thorn for that beautiful photo of a smiling Fuzzer!

Nope glenda, that is just the way their little fingers look when they are holding on to something tightly! My poor little boy ( I should call him my big boy I guess. He is over 5 years old) held on to my finger for almost 12 hours when we were riding out hurricane Ivan and he was just a teen ager and those little fingers looked the same just a bit more dug into my skin.

No, I changed my name to Rhorny, Glenda!

And that little squirrel is a female and is now eating for seven!

SEVEN!!!!![size:11pt]
Wow, that is an awful large broad for a grey squirrel. An extremely large!
But she sure is beautiful for supporting that large of a crew.
I wonder if she used the same fertilization clinic as that woman who recently gave birth to Octuplets in California?

I'm just guessing 7. I don't think she's given birth yet.

Sorry about your Red Squirrels, Glenda. Our Eastern Gray Squirrels from the U.S. sneaked aboard old sailing ships bound for England in the 18th and 19th Centuries. When they got to your country, they disembarked and took over country driving your native Red Squirrels almost to extinction. Luckily there are still pockets of Red Squirrels in Scotland. I watch them live on camera every night here. They sure are cute. So are OUR Gray Squirrels. I have THREE of them in my yard with more to come soon. That is MUM squirrel in the picture. She gets more and more friendly every day (and more and more gravid, too)
