I live in Central Illinois, area 5b, and my local nursery is already selling primrose bedding plants. My question is: If we are still likely to get occasional frost, is it safe to transplant these flowers to the garden or should I keep them protected in the garage until all danger of frost has passed. Thank you.

rose, It's too hot here in Tx , I've tried them,,

I would think however that if another frost is liable to happen I would wait a little longer before setting them out side. I do know they are early bloomers,, maybe you can call your nursery and ask them when would be best to Plant outside??

Primroses in bloom can take light frosts, but not heavy freezes...so I would wait. Local nurseries, Lowe's, etc. usually have them available now more as houseplants.
