Would anyone happen to have a recipe for Oatmeal Cookies? I love them and everytime I make them, they are not soft and chewy. I like the kind that kind of snap like a Ginger snap when you bite into them yet are soft and chewy.
Would anyone please either tell me what I am doing wrong or have a recipe they would share with me?
Thank you

the trick isn't the recipe,, the trick is to know when to take them from the oven,

I always take mine out of the oven when the edges are golden brown;,And the middle of the cookie still appears somewhat soft,
Let then "rest" on the cookie sheet ONE minutes before removing,,,, this crisps the bottom and edges,, Place on waxed paper until almost room temp then place in an airtight plastic container,
This way they are a bit crunchy yet chewy too!

PS instead of using butter or regular shortening,, I ALWAYS use Butter flavored Crisco

Oatmeal Cookies
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 cup raisins
3 cups quick-cooking oats

Heat oven to 350. Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 1 inch apart onto greased baking sheet. Bake 12 -15 minutes until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger. Immediately remove from baking sheet. Store in tightly covered container.
Makes about 5 dozen.
