Hello, I live in southern Missouri around the Jacks Fork River and the Current river. Very rocky soil and lots of hills. I recently moved into a new modular home on top of a big hill and I have a nice flat rocky spot behind my house I want to turn into a secret garden. Partial shade and sun. Any ideas? Should I use containers or lanscaping timbers and build beds with top soil and manure and potting soil. I want to have a path with stepping stones and perhaps a bench and a arched trellis. Now understand I am not going to do this in one year it is a garden in progress. What about herbs? I welcome all suggestions. It is so frustrating not being able to run a tiller or tractor to cultivate my rocky soil and I do not have a "man" around to do it. I can hire some help but would prefer suggestions on how to go it alone. I had a garden where I lived before but I had less rock and more soil to work with and was able to do it wil hoe and shovel. Please help it is getting warmer outside and I need to be out there working!
