Today I cleaned up my greenhouse and got it ready for transplanting time next week. It's been so cold here with lots of snow and I'm not sure if my heater will keep the greenhouse warm enough if it hits freezing temperatures each night, but my seedlings are on the go and more then ready to be transplanted. It was beautiful today, 70 degrees F inside the greenhouse while I was cleaning, perfect for the little seedlings during the day. I guess we'll see what happens next week. I do feel a bit anxious at this time of the year with all my seedlings that need to be transplanted, since we can't control the weather, we must hope that spring will come soon for us. We do need warmer weather, there's still so much snow around.

I haven't got a picture of mine right now Sheri, it's just an old greenhouse made with wood frames and plastic on top. But it sure serves it's purpose. Yesterday I did my first set of transplanting. I kind of stayed up all night watching the temperature. It did go below freezing but the good news is my heater kept the greenhouse nice and cozy all night. I did something new this year with my greenhouse. Last year I had a bad case of ants and then aphids during the summer months, it was so bad that I lost half of my plants ....... I do tomatoes and peppers in the g-house and I lost all the peppers, I could've cried. Someone suggested using garlic spray in the greenhouse, so this year I bought some from a web-site and I literally fumigated the greenhouse with the garlic. The guy who is helping me with the garlic said I can do it again in a few weeks it will not harm the plants once they have a few leaves already. So I hoping all will go well.

It's been over a week now since I started and my greenhouse is doing fine. We had -6 degrees C or 20 degrees F last night. When I checked this morning my greenhouse was nice and warm at 50 degrees. I'm hoping my heater will keep it up for there's more of this coming in the next few nights. I did more transplanting this week and so far the seedlings look ok. It's a beautiful day today, clear skies so I'll be having lots of sunshine and heat in the greenhouse all day.

And it will keep the vampires away too! You're right Stevie!! Rosepetal, when I lived in a house and had a small garden I always wished my husband would build me a greenhouse....never happened!! I know that must have felt heartbreaking losing so many plants before! Hope all goes well this year....with the "vampire" treatment. Interesting to know if it works.

It's not been an easy road with my greenhouse this year. We're just getting the biggest snow fall of the year or past winter right now. Though my plants are doing well, actually they're the nicest seedlings I've had in a while, it has been quite a struggle to keep my greenhouse warm. My husband rented one of those space heaters contractors use to keep a cementing job site warm. Now my boys are taking turns getting up every hour or two during the night just to check and see that all is well. This space heater heats up the greenhouse fast but we don't want to leave it on all night. So they've been using it when they see the temperatures dipping too low and our main heater not keeping up. Oh the work and toils of a greenhouse......but that's not all there is to it the joy and satisfaction of seeing your plants grow in that environment out weighs the hard work, when spring finally decides to stay here.

I think the weather is finally starting to clear up, I did some transplanting in the greenhouse today, though it wasn't hot it was warm enough to work without a coat. Hopefully the sun will start shining soon. We have about 3 feet of snow everywhere. I can imagine all the mud and water we'll have everywhere once it starts to melt. The plants are doing OK, not much growth, but at least I didn't loose too many in that cold spell.

It's been while now since those cold days and nights. My greenhouse is going well, flowers are growing healthy and strong. My broc. cauli. and cabbage plants are doing great this year too. I'll have to do a few pictures to show you how they are all growing. We're still getting some cold nights had a heavy frost this morning.

I know you have been waiting for pictures and I will get them sooner or later. My computer has been down for a few weeks now and I haven't been able to do all I want with it since we have it back. But on the other hand plants do not wait to grow and for us to take pictures. My greenhouse is doing well, my plants are healthy and strong. But I can't plant anything outside just yet. We had a hard frost this morning so we'll have to wait a few more days to see if it will stay warm outside. It does warm up during the day, but the nights are still too cold.

Since I took those greenhouse pictures we've been have winter all over again in our area. Our flowerbeds and the garden is just just surviving.... hopefully when we start getting some warmer weather all will be OK. Here are some pictures I took of our snowfall on June 5th. ![[Linked Image]](http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/rosepetal24/P1040305.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/rosepetal24/P1040301.jpg) It all melted the next day but we've been have freezing weather over night almost every night since then.

your green house looks beautiful, rosepetal. What part of canada do you live in??? will you plant all of the seedlings out or will some be permanent greenhouse residents??

Thank you all for your kind comments. It is a wonderful place to work in, I truly love every minute I spend in that greenhouse. Most of the seedlings are already outside, I do have some left that will need to be used to replace anything we may have lost in the cold weather or some friends who want to buy some more too. It looks like my cabbage, broc. and cauliflower will make it through the cold spell.... so far anyway, and by some miracle most of our flowers are doing OK as well. I do tomatoes, peppers and some flowers in the greenhouse for the summer. It takes a bit extra care and looking after, but at least I have tomatoes and peppers in this short growing season that we have here in Alberta. I have windows on both sides of the greenhouse and also vents on the top. I have a large fan blowing on the inside and one that will pull hot air out when turned on. The only thing missing is my heater is a bit small, I'd love to get into the greenhouse earlier in the year, but this is one thing I have to be careful with. As I mentioned in previous posts we had to rent a large space heater to help along already this year.
