Hello and thank you.
I am in zone 7. While I lived away for six years, those d#%n vines killed my many junipers(6-8 feet tall) on a steep(45 degree)slope. The slope is 20 ft high and 50 feet across. I dug 'em all out. The vines and the junipers.
As a replacement, my current idea is an evergreen hedge/backdrop across the top, with a field of red twig dogwoods. I am in love with the idea of a slope of red twig in snow. Also these are recomended as good for use on slopes - very fibrous roots... The slope faces west and south, and full sun. I don't expect that these dogwoods alone can hold the slope (but I have zero experience with 'em). What else can I add to the field of red twig dogwoods?
a low evergreen cotoneaster?
a low creeping juniper?
These will all look good in winter with naked dogwoods, but what about when the dogwoods leaf out?
other ground cover?

Thanks. Hacking out the vines and junipers was so tough, it hurts to type. It has been three weekends and three days off.
