i keep getting firefox crashes. version 3.0.8. the error message says something like firefox has encountered a problem and has crashed, at which point i am dumped out - this mostly happens in webkinz world. i am on dial-up, usually connected at 40.0kbps. things never crashed before i upgraded to 3.0.8. should i go back to an older version or use a diff browser you think?

Well, unfortunately, with FireFox there are many reasons it can crash (Just like IE); Addons (or extensions) are the most problematic... You can see a list on their site here. Some users would say to just delete all of the files out of the profile directory, but that'd clear out your bookmarks and saved passwords...

Hi all. Well I had to chime in cause I LOVe Fire fox.. have never had a lick of trouble.. But then again I never have crashes cause we have Mac's. IE was horrid. But then they have not supported macs in a long time. So My answer ditch the PC and get a mac!

Mac or PC, it'd have the same issues; sounds like possible corrupted data in the FireFox profile directory (which would effect any OS, including Linux or Unix (which newer versions of MacOS are based on Debian which is a Unix distribution)).
short of having you purge the data in the profile directory, I'm not sure really what to suggest...

3.0.9 just came out. I have a PC and Firefox and I hardly have issues with it. Try clearing out the cookies and restart your computer, update Firefox to it's latest version. If it still crashes, it may be Webkins.
You could uninstall Firefox, then reinstall it again, but as a last resort do that.

Clearing the cookies is not likely to have any effect on possible corrupted profile data; and blaming a hugely popular site for something that is likely just a logical issue with the firefox user profile is completely ludicrous...
Additionally, uninstalling firefox may still keep the profile information, which is likely the culprit...
To "fix" the profile issue, you can try deleting the files out of the applicaiton data folder (c:\documents and settings\your login name\application data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile name) but note that it can (and likely will) delete your saved passwords, bookmarks, settings, etc.
