Hi everyone,

I just received 100 strawberry plants from Gurney's. 50 Ozark Beauties and 50 Whoppers. Can anyone give me some planting tips? For example, can I plant Everbearing and Junebearing together or will I need a separate bed for each? Also, I have no idea of the spacing. Gurney's didn't send any planting instructions at all. Thank you for your help!!!!

what's the reason for planting in seperate beds? easier to pick when ripe? I planted my strawberries as a low-maintenance crop and have never practiced any of the recommended pruning/thinning/dividing. They grow in part shade, and all I do is pull the occasional weed. I think the recommended spacing is 12 inches.

Last year, I was at Lowes getting some glue and I saw some strawberry plants. I haven't seen them before at Lowes so I figured I'd mind as well buy a container of two just to try it out. They were Ozark Beauties, and I spaced them about a foot apart in the garden. I got a few strawberries, but they were really small, maybe an inch long, so I'm guessing that Lowe's mislabeled them. The strawberry page on the Garden Helper claims that Ozarks are to be large, and these were definitely not large. But anyways, I have maybe 20 plants now that came off from the runners.

here's my 2nd year strawberry patch. I just have a few plants but last year we got plenty to eat. Since I don't freeze them it works for us.
