Good Morning:
I noticed many comments about the Aloe Plant and it appears, it is a perplexing plant for some of you. I gained my fascination for this plant many years ago, when I met an old Elderly Lady, who was selling this plant out of an old Wash Tub, at an Arts & Crafts Festival in a South Georgia Town I visit very often.
Being a Somewhat College Educated Plant Scientist, I started Drilling Her about all the Do's & Dont's concerning the ALOE and she shut my 6'7 & 1/2 inch-351 lb body up quickly by exclaming, "MR.-I been
growing this here Plant for 47 years in nutting but River Sand. How much you Water It? Quote- "About once every utter month & I put it out in the yard from April till October. Some I leave on the Porch Year Round and the Others I put in the Barn and Leave the Doors Open During the Warm Day's that get Above 50."
Well, I started incorporating some of that advice slowly but surely and some of you will say it goes against proper Plant Care, But, All I know it Works. I use most of this advice, on all of my Cacti &
succulents & I got to admit, I have little or no problems with them. I get my sand down at the OHOOPEE River. Filter it through a Fine Hardware Cloth & Spray them down with a Full Mixture of NEEM, about 3 times a year during the
spring & Summer. Recently, I started adding a 75/25 mix of Hardwood Saw Dust (25) & River Sand (75), to all of my mixes and I will let you know what happens, as I Watch All Of Them Grow.
