I don't know about you all, but I am REEEEEEEEALLY getting tired of these dark, dismal, dreary, grey, rainy, cool days! But... I am thrilled to see that many of my perennials are giving it their best try and showing some nice greens and leaves!
spring sprouts: variegated sedum, tulips, Stella D'Oro lilies

Very nice, I shovelled some snow off of one of my flower beds and my columbines and jacobs ladder are up a centimetre under there.

Thanks all!
Sibyl - the variegated plant above the cacti is a yucca. It's going on its 3rd summer here - I have another one in another garden too. I love the colors in those plants and they are very hardy here - bloom a nice big flower stalk too.
I'm jealous that you can grow red hot pokers - I've tried them twice - once from started plants and once from seeds and I just cannot get them to survive. Everything looks nice and green and healthy in your yard too!
We are finally going to have some terrific weather this weekend - it's even going to be near 80 on Monday - looks like another year where we go straight from cold winter weather to summer, without spring in the middle - sheeesh!

I'm soooo excited! Tina sent me these grape hyacinth bulbs a year ago winter, and I put them out too late last year, so I didn't know if they would actually make it. While cleaning up the garden this afternoon, I found that they are about to bloom - YIPPEE!

Thanks, Triss. I do believe that Tina sent both of us the same bulbs last year, when she sent us boxes at the same time. It IS interesting how the different coasts are blooming at different times.

Lynne.. we have tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths blooming.. but that's about it... I have some [Tiger?] lillies that are coming up, as well as most everything else... but no other blooms... I have a lot planned for tomorrow and Sunday, considering it will be the first nice day in over a week... warm and everything, the full deal! I have tons of cleaning up, and planting, to do...
THE SPROUT IS BACK!

Five days make a big difference - especially when 2 of those were near or in the 80's!!!
The grape hyacinths have opened!
Some tulips are smiling today too - though I did think they were going to be pink, according to the picture on the boxes!!!
Side view of same flowers - funny how the lighting differs!
