I'm glad i found this forum! Lots of great information!
But i still need help! why

My husband and i bought our first house last September! So i am very new to gardening and want to plant some flowers in front of the house, but have no idea how to do it!... Here is the picture of the front of our house... And i just don't know what color flowers would be good... and do i need to create a focal point? Please help?
By the way we live in Maine (near Portland) and this side of the house gets plenty of sunshine in the summer.
Sorry it's not a very good picture, but it's all i have at the moment... So i was thinking planting some flowers right in front of the bushes there...

Greetings from another Mainiac! Welcome to the forum!

I can't see your photo. Does it show on your monitor?

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

flicker can be used just as easily as photobucket.

looks like the link just has some kind of error in it.

i re-did it:

margaritka's pic

could you give us a bit more info, please?

what zone is the area you are in and what direction does the front of the house face? what kind of soil do you have? are you looking for low maintenance stuff? just flowers to accent what's already there or are you looking to redo the area completely? any color preferences?

thumbup

i THINK planting in front of the bushes on both sides would be an excellent idea.
Just remember to put the tallest ones in the back and shorties in front.

Like a dwarf marigold for the shorties next to the walkway. Then get bigger as you go on.
