I don't really know any of you all, personally, but I wanted to announce the good news. Looks like we are moving to Starkville, Mississippi! I am super excited to get back to the South. Pine straw. George Tabor azaleas. Heat & humidity. ... I can't wait!!

I just looked up Starkville, MS to see how far it is from Mobile, AL. Too far.

I don't live in Mobile but my husband works there. Whem I'm in Mobile I need to find things to do and people to visit.

Looks like we are a lot closer NOW-- Cincinnati to La Grange-- than we'll be when we move & you visit your husband.

I like living in the south too. Lots of humidity but pretty flowers.

To my mind, nothing quite matches a George Tabor azalea. Nuthin. All my girls are GRITS (girls raised in the south) and I can remember the necklaces they made out of these beautiful azaleas. And daffodils in late January. I am excited to be getting back. Although I will miss the peonies. Maybe I can make them work.

peonies grow in the Piedmont of NC maybe they'll work in Mississippi.

Hey Bestofour! I have peonies here in Cincinnati and I am going to take some with me.

When we moved, 9 years ago, from Eastern North Carolina (that 51st state) to Cincinnati, I gave my mom (in Greensboro), and my friends and neighbors a lot of things I had in my garden (which won "Yard of the Month" several times). When we went back there a year later, I saw that the new owners had pretty much paved over all of my garden. I will not make that mistake again. I've worked in this lovely old garden-- the house is 100+ years old, and I am still digging up skeletons of what must have bee a beautiful garden with some rare plants-- for 8 years. I am taking things with me. I did take some things last time we moved, but not enough.

So as we move forward, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions about how to transport various things, and if it's even possible to do so with some.

And I think I need to look into the plant exchange here. I'd rather give away stuff to people who appreciate it, than see it... . Well, you know.
