I have a patch of daffodils. Every year (for the past 9 years) they come up and are covered with large buds. They look healthy and beautiful, but the buds never open. They turn brown and wither. They are not regular daffodils. They have petals around the outside of the flower and the center is a mass of yellow "stips" all bunched together. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my daffodils? Thanks, S.

It might be that you've it's been getting too much water lodged in the bud. Couple that with coll temperatures and it's enough to make the buds rot (turn brown, mushy, and fall off). If you want, you can choose divide your daffies, or leave them as they are. your description of the blooms sound like it might be a double daffodil.
